Organizations Filed Purposes: THE MISSION OF ABBOTT NORTHWESTERN HOSPITAL FOUNDATION IS TO RAISE, STEWARD AND DISBURSE FUNDS FOR THE BENEFIT OF ABBOTT NORTHWESTERN HOSPITAL AND THE COMMUNITIES IT SERVES. THE FOUNDATION IS A SEPARATE NOT-FOR-PROFIT ENTITY DEDICATED TO SUPPORTING THE HOSPITAL AND IS GOVERNED BY A SEPARATE BOARD. ABBOTT NORTHWESTERN HOSPITAL IS THE TWIN CITIES' LARGEST NOT-FOR-PROFIT HOSPITAL. EACH YEAR, THE HOSPITAL PROVIDES COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH CARE FOR MORE THAN 200,000 PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES FROM THE TWIN CITIES AREA AND THROUGHOUT THE UPPER MIDWEST. THE HOSPITAL IS ROUTINELY NAMED IN NATIONAL RANKINGS OF THE NATION'S BEST HOSPITALS, INCLUDING BEING NAMED IN U.S. NEWS AND WORLD REPORT'S "AMERICA'S TOP 50 HOSPITALS" LIST FOR TEN CONSECUTIVE YEARS. PATIENT PROGRAMS AND EDUCATION-- HELP WITH OUT-OF-POCKET COSTS FOR GIVENS BRAIN TUMOR CENTER PATIENTS UNDERGOING TUMOR GENE TESTING.- EQUIPMENT TO PROVIDE VIRTUAL REALITY AS AN ADDITIONAL INTERVENTION TO EASE LONG HOSPITAL STAYS.- EMERGENCY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR QUALIFYING BREAST CANCER PATIENTS TO HELP WITH EVERYDAY EXPENSES.- NURSES' EDUCATION, TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION TO INCREASE THEIR SKILLS.- UPGRADE EXISTING FACILITIES, EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES FOR HIGH FIDELITY SIMULATION TRAINING.

RESEARCH- - A CLINICAL STUDY TO EVALUATE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF A NON-INVASIVE INTERMITTENT COLD-COMPRESSION THERAPY MODALITY FOR PAIN CONTROL.- A RETROSPECTIVE OBSERVATIONAL STUDY TO ASSESS THE POTENTIAL FOR USE OF BLOOD LACTATE LEVELS AS AN EARLY MARKER OF SEPSIS THROUGHOUT PREGNANCY AND POSTPARTUM.
