THE AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF ARCHITECTS MINNESOTA, FOUNDED IN 1892, IS THE PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR THE ARCHITECTURE PROFESSION IN MINNESOTA. AS A STATE COMPONENT OF AIA NATIONAL, AIA MINNESOTA PROVIDES SERVICES TO OTHER AIA CHAPTERS LOCATED IN MINNESOTA, PRODUCES A REGIONAL CONFERENCE, PUBLISHES THE AWARD-WINNING MAGAZINE ARCHITECTURE MN, LOBBIES ON BEHALF OF THE PROFESSION AT THE STATE LEGISLATURE, AND DELIVERS CONTINUING EDUCATION TO MEMBERS. MISSION: ADVANCING A VITAL PROFESSION, VIBRANT COMMUNITIES, AND ARCHITECTURE THAT ENDURES.

MEMBERSHIP SERVICES: BENEFITS PROVIDED TO NEARLY 2,400 MINNESOTA MEMBERS OF THE ARCHITECTURE PROFESSION THROUGH EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH THE OPERATION OF THE ASSOCIATION AND ITS PROGRAMS. THESE SERVICES INCLUDE THE WORK OF THE ASSOCIATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS, PROGRAMS, SEMINARS AND EVENTS FOR NETWORKING AND CONTINUING EDUCATION, ADVOCACY AND PUBLIC AWARENESS, AND GOVERNMENT ADVOCACY TO ADDRESS THE NEEDS OF THE PROFESSION.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: THE ASSOCIATION CONDUCTS SEVERAL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR THAT ARE DESIGNED TO STIMULATE CREATIVE THINKING ABOUT THE DESIGN INDUSTRY AND TO EDUCATE PEOPLE ABOUT CHANGES IN TECHNOLOGIES AND CODES WHICH DIRECTLY APPLY TO ARCHITECTURE. THESE PROGRAMS ARE OPERATED AND FUNDED BY THE ASSOCIATION AND, ON OCCASION, ARE SPONSORED BY OUTSIDE PARTIES. ALL OF THESE PROGRAMS ARE DESIGNED FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE MEMBERSHIP AND RELATED PROFESSIONS.IN ADDITION, HELD EACH YEAR IN THE FALL, THE ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE INCLUDES A PRODUCT EXHIBITION AND CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAMS, WHICH ARE DESIGNED TO BENEFIT THE MEMBERS AS WELL AS THOSE INVOLVED IN OR INTERESTED IN THE ARCHITECTURE PROFESSION.
MAGAZINE: THE ASSOCIATION PUBLISHES THE MAGAZINE ARCHITECTURE MINNESOTA AS A PUBLIC RELATIONS TOOL FOR ALL MINNESOTA ARCHITECTS. IT IS DISTRIBUTED TO DECISION-MAKERS IN SEVERAL INDUSTRIES IN ORDER TO EDUCATE ON THE FIELD OF ARCHITECTURE AND TO PROMOTE MINNESOTA ARCHITECTS FOR FUTURE CONSIDERATION IN DESIGN WORK. THE MAGAZINE SELLS ADVERTISING TO COMPANIES THAT WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THEIR PRODUCTS DISPLAYED TO MINNESOTA ARCHITECTS AND OTHER READERS OF ARCHITECTURE MINNESOTA MAGAZINE.
