Organizations Filed Purposes:
The mission of the Barbara Schneider Foundation is to eliminate the criminalization and abusive treatment of people with mental illness by improving public safety and mental health systems through proactive training and public education.
Training: Programs includes delivery of a 40 hour Memphis Model Crisis Intervention Team training for police officers, Sheriff deputies, and other criminal justice, hospital and related staff in the adult system and in the child and adolescent system. Delivery of a 32 hour CIT training in the Memphis model format for uniformed sworn and non-sworn corrections and detention staff. An 8 hour and 12 hour de-escalation training for health, mental health, social services and justice staff and community members. 2,616 individuals benefited.
Collaboration and Outreach: Reaching out to community partners and collaboration with other agencies and organizations that support our mission and advocate for our perspective. Partners include: Suicide Awareness Voices of Education; Minnesota Recovery Connection; Little Earth of United Tribes, Mde Maka Ska Community Conversations; Minnesota Chippewa Tribe; Mni Ki Wakan Summit, Rapid City Community Conversations; Fargo Moorhead Indigenous Community Circle, Bad River Chippewa Tribe, Oglala Sioux Tribe; Rosebud Sioux Tribe; Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, Oglala Lakota Children's Justice Center; Mental Health Legislative Network; CIT International; Cultural Wellness Center; Backyard Initiative; Second Chance Coalition, Chief of Police Round tables in Minneapolis and St Paul. 2,450 individuals benefited.

Minnesota Mental Health Legislative Network, Mental Health Education Project conference planning and implementation, Rapid City Community Innovation Team Summit, Mni Ki Wakan Summit, CIT International, Regional CIT Conference, Bush Convenings, Other conference, event and classroom presentations. Over 24,600 people benefited from these resources.
