THE IMMIGRATION LITIGATION FUND (ILF) IS A NATIONAL FUNDER COLLABORATIVE WHOSE GOAL IS TO ENSURE THAT THE NATION'S IMMIGRATION ENFORCEMENT SYSTEM IS FAIR, HUMANE, AND PRIORITIZES THE CIVIL AND HUMAN RIGHTS OF THOSE VULNERABLE TO DEPORTATION. ILF BELIEVES THAT LITIGATION IS AN ESSENTIAL TOOL IN ACHIEVING PUBLIC POLICY AND SOCIAL CHANGE ON IMMIGRATION ISSUES. THE FUND'S GRANT MAKING PRIORITIZES LITIGATION EFFORTS THAT ARE CONNECTED TO, AND COORDINATED WITH, IMMIGRANT COMMUNITIES AND ORGANIZATIONS.THE FUND SUPPORTS IMPACT LITIGATION EFFORTS THAT CHALLENGE DISCRIMINATORY, UNLAWFUL, AND OVERLY PUNITIVE IMMIGRATION ENFORCEMENT POLICIES AND PRACTICES AT ANY STAGE OF THE ENFORCEMENT TRAJECTORY FROM IDENTIFICATION AND APPREHENSION, TO DETENTION AND REMOVAL, AS WELL AS EFFORTS TO EXCLUDE CERTAIN IMMIGRANTS FROM ENTERING THE COUNTRY.

THE SPARK JUSTICE FUND (SJF) IS A DONOR COLLABORATIVE AT BOREALIS PHILANTHROPY THAT SUPPORTS GRASSROOTS ORGANIZING AND ADVOCACY GROUPS TO END THE USE OF MONEY BAIL IN THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM, TRANSFORM PRETRIAL JUSTICE, AND BUILD POWER IN COMMUNITIES MOST IMPACTED BY INCARCERATION IN THE UNITED STATES.THE FUND'S LONG-TERM VISION IS TO:END MONEY BAIL AND ADVANCE TRANSFORMATIVE PRETRIAL JUSTICE REFORMS THAT SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCE JAIL POPULATIONS, DECRIMINALIZE POVERTY, AND ELIMINATE DISPARITIES FOR LOW-INCOME COMMUNITIES OF COLOR, INCLUDING FOR WOMEN OF COLOR AND OTHER MARGINALIZED POPULATIONS.STRENGTHEN THE CAPACITY OF STATE-BASED AND LOCAL GRASSROOTS GROUPS AND THOSE WHO ARE IMPACTED BY THE CRIMINAL LEGAL SYSTEM TO LEAD THE MOVEMENT FOR ITS TRANSFORMATIONELEVATE THE LEADERSHIP OF THOSE MOST DIRECTLY AFFECTED BY THE CRIMINAL LEGAL SYSTEM

THE REP FUND IS PREMISED ON THE BELIEF THAT ADVANCING RACIAL EQUITY AND REFLECTING THE DIVERSITY OF U.S. SOCIETY AS A VALUE IS NECESSARY TO PHILANTHROPIC SECTOR EFFECTIVENESS. WHILE THERE HAVE BEEN ATTEMPTS OVER THE YEARS TO MEANINGFULLY ADDRESS RACIAL EQUITY IN PHILANTHROPY, THERE IS STILL PROGRESS TO BE MADE IN INCREASING RACIAL DIVERSITY IN LEADERSHIP POSITIONS AND RESOURCES DIRECTED AT EXPLICITLY ENDING STRUCTURAL RACISM.THE REP FUND'S VISION IS TO PROMOTE GRANT MAKING STRATEGIES THAT PRIORITIZE STRUCTURAL CHANGE AND ENDING RACIAL DISPARITIES AS THE NORM IN PHILANTHROPY. WE BELIEVE THAT A MORE NUANCED APPROACH TO PHILANTHROPY THAT RESPONDS TO THE SPECIFIC NEEDS OF COMMUNITIES WILL MORE DIRECTLY CLOSE GAPS IN OPPORTUNITY, ACHIEVEMENT, AND RESOURCES FOR PEOPLE OF COLOR AND ULTIMATELY IMPROVE LIVING CONDITIONS FOR ALL PEOPLE.
