THE CONSTRUCTION CAREER PATHWAY (CCP) IS A COLLABORATIVE INITIATIVE TO PROVIDE YEAR-ROUND CONSTRUCTION CAREER EXPLORATION OPPORTUNITIES FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. THE INTENT OF THIS PROGRAM IS TO PROVIDE HANDS-ON LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUTH TO BE EXPOSED TO AND EXPLORE CAREERS IN CONSTRUCTION. IT ALSO IS THE INTENT TO HAVE AN OUTREACH EMPHASIS GIVEN TO FEMALES AND MEMBERS OF MINORITY AND IMMIGRANT GROUPS WHO HISTORICALLY HAVE BEEN UNDERREPRESENTED IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY.
MN TRADES ACADEMY (MTA) IS A PAID SUMMER CONSTRUCTION INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE FOR SELECTED MN HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH. THE GOAL IS TO HELP YOUTH PREPARE FOR ADULTHOOD THROUGH LIFELONG LEARNING, SKILL DEVELOPMENT, AND THE ACCESS TO GOOD JOBS IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY. MTA ASPIRES TO PROVIDE RICH EDUCATIONAL AND HANDS-ON EXPERIENCES FOR PARTICIPANTS TO EARN WHILE THEY LEARN ABOUT CONSTRUCTION AS A CAREER CHOICE.
WORKING IN TANDEM WITH THE NATIONAL OFFICE OF HELMETS TO HARDHATS, A NATIONAL NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION THAT INTRODUCES MILITARY VETS TO CAREER OPPORTUNITIES IN CONSTRUCTION, THE CONSTRUCTION CAREERS FOUNDATION IS BUILDING A MINNESOTA HELMETS TO HARDHATS PROGRAM, SUPPORTED BY THE MINNESOTA LEGISLATURE. THE MISSION OF HELMETS TO HARDHATS IS TO RECRUIT, RETAIN, ASSIST AND SUPPORT THE PARTICIPATION OF NATIONAL GUARD, RESERVE, AND ACTIVE-DUTY MILITARY MEMBERS AND VETERANS IN CONSTRUCTION TRADES APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMS REGISTERED WITH THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF LABOR AND INDUSTRY.
