WE ARE CALLED TO ASSIST PEOPLE TO ENVISION A FUTURE OF HOPE AND PROSPERITY BY PROVIDING FUNDAMENTAL LEARNING BLOCKS, CONNECTING TO BROADER SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC NETWORKS, PREPARING FOR TODAY'S JOB MARKET THROUGH PLACEMENT AND SUPPORTS, AND ENSURING PEOPLE ARE HEALTHY, STABLE, AND ENGAGED. EAST SIDE'S GOALS REFLECT ITS CORE PRIORITIES: THAT PEOPLE HAVE THE STABILITY THAT THEY NEED TO THRIVE; CHILDREN AND YOUTH FOSTER CURIOSITY AND AUTONOMY THROUGH EDUCATIONAL PATHWAYS; OLDER ADULTS ARE VALUED, SOCIALLY AND INTELLECTUALLY ENGAGED, AND ABLE TO LIVE IN COMMUNITY; FAMILIES BUILD FOUNDATIONS FOR HEALING AND GROWTH; AND OUR COMMUNITY HAS A PLACE TO BE, HEAL, AND LEARN TOGETHER. WE PURSUE THESE GOALS THROUGH PROGRAMS AND SERVICES THAT SPAN GENERATIONS AND NEIGHBORHOODS.
THE MISSION OF EAST SIDE NEIGHBORHOOD SERVICES IS TO FOSTER THE HEALTHY DEVELOPMENT AND WELL-BEING OF INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES WHILE STRENGTHING OUR DIVERSE COMMUNITY.
SENIOR SERVICESOUR VITAL LIVING PROGRAMS, SENIOR TRANSPORTATION, AND SENIOR DINING HELP ENSURE THAT OLDER ADULTS ARE VALUED, SOCIALLY AND INTELLECTUALLY ENGAGED, AND ABLE TO LIVE IN COMMUNITY.VITAL LIVING CONNECTS OLDER ADULTS AND THEIR FAMILIES TO SERVICES AND RESOURCES THAT EXPAND THEIR CHOICES FOR REMAINING INDEPENDENT IN THEIR OWN HOMES AND ENHANCING CONNECTION TO COMMUNITY. WE PROVIDE EVIDENCE-BASED HEALTH AND WELLNESS CLASSES ON FALL PREVENTION AND DISEASE SELF-MANAGEMENT, EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING AND EXERCISE CLASSES TO IMPROVE QUALITY OF LIFE, SUPPORT SERVICES FOR FAMILY AND FRIENDS CARING FOR AN OLDER ADULT TO MANAGE STRESS, CONNECT TO RESOURCES AND PLAN FOR THE FUTURE AND INTERGENERATIONAL ENGAGEMENT AND VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES TO INCREASE COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT AND CREATE THE OPPORTUNITY FOR DIFFERENT GENERATIONS TO BUILD RELATIONSHIPS WITH AND LEARN FROM EACH OTHER. WE SUPPORT A COMMUNITY WHERE NEIGHBORS GROW UP AND GROW OLD TOGETHER.IN 2019, OUR VITAL LIVING PROGRAM OFFERED HEALTH AND WELLNESS SERVICES TO 306 OLDER ADULTS AND THEIR CAREGIVERS; 95% OF THOSE WHO COMPLETED EVIDENCE-BASED HEALTH AND WELLNESS CLASSES INDICATED THAT THEY LEARNED SKILLS THAT HAD A POSITIVE IMPACT ON THEIR HEALTH AND WELLBEING.SENIOR TRANSPORTATION PROVIDES DOOR-TO-DOOR TRANSPORTATION FOR OLDER ADULTS AND THOSE WITH DISABILITIES TO MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS, SCHEDULED GROCERY SHOPPING, AND RECREATIONAL OUTINGS. TRANSPORTATION MEANS OLDER ADULTS ARE ABLE TO REMAIN INDEPENDENT LONGER WHILE STAYING SOCIALLY ACTIVE AND VITAL TO OUR COMMUNITY.IN 2019, TRANSPORTATION PROVIDED OVER 28,000 RIDES TO 440 OLDER AND/OR DISABLED ADULTS.
CAMP BOVEY SUMMER CAMP IS AN OVERNIGHT CAMP LOCATED IN SOLON SPRINGS, WISCONSIN. THE MISSION OF CAMP BOVEY IS TO PROVIDE A SAFE PLACE FOR YOUTH TO HAVE FUN WHILE PARTICIPATING IN OUTDOOR ACTIVITES THAT HELP CAMPERS BUILD RESPECT FOR THEMSELVES, FOR ONE ANOTHER AND FOR THE ENVIRONMENT. KIDS CAN MAKE NEW FRIENDS WHO ARE DIFFERENT FROM THEM, GET EXERCISE, LEARN ABOUT NATURE, LEARN SOMETHING THAT CAN HELP THEM IN SCHOOL, AND TRY SOMETHING THEY'VE NEVER TRIED BEFORE. FOR PEOPLE OF COLOR IN PARTICULAR, WE WANT TO GENERATE A SENSE OF ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP, HELP MORE POC ENTER ENVIRONMENTAL CAREER PATHWAYS, AND IMPROVE WATER CONFIDENCE.IN 2019, CAMP BOVEY PROVIDED ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION, SWIMMING INSTRUCTION, LEADERSHIP/TEAM BUILDING EXPERIENCES, AND CONTACT WITH NATURE TO 166 CAMPERS, OF WHOM 93.4% RECEIVED FINANCIAL AID.OUT-OF-SCHOOL TIME PROGRAMMING PROVIDES ACADEMIC SUCCESS, SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL SKILL BUILDING, LEADERSHIP, COMMUNITY CONNECTEDNESS, AND MEANINGFUL LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUTH IN GRADES K-12 THROUGH SIX PROGRAMS INCLUDING FOUR SCHOOL BASED PROGRAMS (HERITAGE ACADEMY, VENTURE ACADEMY, PRATT ELEMENTARY AND MENLO PARK ACADEMY). EACH CENTER OFFERS AFTER SCHOOL AND SUMMER ENRICHMENT AND EDUCATION WITH HANDS-ON LEARNING AND COMMUNITY OUTINGS. PARTICIPANTS IMPROVE PEER RELATIONSHIPS, INCREASE CONFIDENCE AS LEARNERS AND RISK TAKERS, INCREASE KNOWLEDGE OF NEW ACTIVITIES, AND GROW AS ACTIVE CITIZENS IN THEIR COMMUNITY.IN 2019, OUR OUT OF SCHOOL TIME PROGRAMS SERVED OVER 500 YOUTH IN GRADES K-12; 97% OF RESPONDENTS SAID THEY HAVE FUN WHEN THEY COME TO THEIR OST PROGRAM; 91% OF RESPONDENTS SAID THERE IS AN ADULT WHO THEY WILL LISTEN TO AND RESPECT AT THEIR OST PROGRAM; AND 67% OF RESPONDENTS SAID ATTENDING THEIR OST PROGRAM HELPED THEM TRY HARDER IN SCHOOL.MENLO PARK ACADEMY IS AN ALTERNATIVE HIGH SCHOOL PROVIDING QUALITY EDUCATION IN A SAFE, SUPPORTIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT LEADING TO A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA AND READINESS FOR EMPLOYMENT AND/OR POST-SECONDARY OPTIONS. WE OFFER SMALL CLASS SIZES AND ON-SITE ACCESS TO SOCIAL SERVICES.IN 2019, MENLO PARK ACADEMY ENROLLED 84 STUDENTS IN 2019, AND GRADUATED 8 WITH 5 SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED.BE@SCHOOL PROVIDES OUTREACH AND ADVOCACY FOR YOUTH IN GRADES K-12 TO REDUCE TRUANCY AND INCREASE EDUCATIONAL INVOLVEMENT. WE HELP YOUTH ENROLL IN SCHOOL, IMPROVE COMMUNICATION BETWEEN FAMILY AND SCHOOL, AND INCREASE SUPPORTS FOR YOUTH/FAMILIES EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS.IN 2019, OUR BE@SCHOOL PROGRAM SERVED 143 YOUTH AND THEIR FAMILIES. AT LEAST 75% OF THE FAMILIES WHO ACCESSED THE PROGRAM RESOLVED ATTENDANCE ISSUES AND AVOIDED TRUANCY.CREATIVE ARTS THERAPY IS PREVENTATIVE AND NEEDS BASED TRAUMA-INFORMED INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP ARTS THERAPY FOR CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS TO HELP INCREASE POSITIVE DECISION-MAKING, POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS, AND SCHOOL ATTENDANCE THROUGH WEEKLY THERAPY. PARTICIPANTS ARE YOUNG PEOPLE AGES 5-21 AND THEIR FAMILIES. WE HELP FACILITATE GROWTH IN MANY PERSONAL AREAS, SUCH AS ENRICHING SELF-ESTEEM AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS, PROMOTING HEALTHY COPING MECHANISMS, AND ENCOURAGING HEALTHY RISK-TAKING.IN 2019, CREATIVE ARTS THERAPY SERVED 42 YOUTH THROUGH INDIVIDUAL AND TARGETED GROUP THERAPY AND ANOTHER 50-75 YOUTH ANNUALLY THROUGH GROUP PREVENTION ACTIVITIES.
EAST SIDE'S EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAMS PROVIDE EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AND FULL TIME CHILDCARE USING A DEVELOPMENTALLY APPROPRIATE, ANTI-BIASED CURRICULUM FOR FAMILIES FROM ALL INCOME LEVELS. NORTHEAST CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER IS A STATE LICENSED, NATIONALLY ACCREDITED PROGRAM THAT SERVES CHILDREN FROM 6 WEEKS OF AGE TO KINDERGARTEN. THE PROGRAM OFFERS AN EXPERIENCED, DEDICATED STAFF, WHICH IS COMMITTED TO CREATING AN ENVIRONMENT THAT ENCOURAGES CHILDREN TO DEVELOP SOCIALLY, EMOTIONALLY, PHYSICALLY AND INTELLECTUALLY. SPEECH THERAPY, OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY AND PHYSICAL THERAPY SERVICES ARE OFFERED ON SITE, AND ADAPTIVE PROGRAMMING FOR CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS IS PROVIDED. PARENTS RECEIVE SUPPORT THROUGH A VARIETY OF AVENUES INCLUDING PARENTING GROUPS, REFERRALS TO OUTSIDE RESOURCES SUCH AS FAMILY COUNSELING, MENTAL HEALTH CARE, CRISIS INTERVENTIONS WHEN NEEDED, AND A MONTHLY NEWSLETTER CONTAINING RESOURCES AND PARENTING TIPS. PARENT INVOLVEMENT IN THEIR CHILD'S EDUCATION, DAILY CONTACT WITH TEACHERS, SERVING ON HIRING PANELS, AND EVENT OR PROGRAM COMMITTEES CONTRIBUTE POSITIVELY TOWARD CREATING A SUCCESSFUL CHILDCARE EXPERIENCE AND CONNECTION TO EAST SIDE. OUR PHILOSOPHY IS TO BE RESPONSIVE TO THE NEEDS OF OUR CLIENTS AND COMMUNITY.NORTHEAST CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER (NECDC) CURRICULUM IS STEAM - SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, ART AND MATH BASED. IT'S A PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION THAT EMBRACES TEACHING SKILLS AND SUBJECTS IN A WAY THAT RESEMBLES REAL LIFE. STEAM LESSONS IMMERSE CHILDREN IN HANDS-ON EXPLORATION AND BRINGS UP OPEN-ENDED QUESTIONS TO FURTHER LEARNING. CHILDREN DO ACTIVITIES COLLABORATIVELY AND FIND SOLUTIONS THEY UNDERSTAND. STEAM LESSONS ALLOW FOR MULTIPLE RIGHT ANSWERS AND REFRAME FAILURE AS A NECESSARY PART OF LEARNING. STEAM LEARNING PROVIDES PLENTY OF ROOM FOR MULTIPLE RIGHT ANSWERS AND APPROACHES, AND OFFERS RICH POSSIBILITIES FOR CREATIVE SOLUTIONS.IN 2019, AT NORTHEAST CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER, TOTAL ENROLLMENT WAS 106: 90% OF INFANTS, 84% OF TODDLERS AND 88% OF PRESCHOOLERS FINISHED THE YEAR DEVELOPMENTALLY ON TRACK.
