AT ED ALLIES, WE ENVISION A MINNESOTA WHERE ALL STUDENTS EXCEL IN RIGOROUS AND RELEVANT SCHOOLS. WE ADVOCATE FOR THE SUCCESS OF EVERY MINNESOTA STUDENT, FROM PRE-K THROUGH COLLEGE AND CAREER, IMPROVING POLICY TO HELP ALL STUDENTS THRIVE, AND SHARING PROMISING PRACTICES AND STORIES TO DEMONSTRATE THAT ALL KIDS CAN SUCCEED. TO REACH THIS VISION, WE BELIEVE THAT STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES MUST HAVE EQUITABLE ACCESS TO HIGH-QUALITY OPPORTUNITIES AND RESOURCES; TEACHERS AND SCHOOL LEADERS MUST BE WELL-TRAINED, SUPPORTED, AND EFFECTIVE; AND SCHOOLS MUST BE RIGOROUS AND RELEVANT, BOTH ACADEMICALLY AND CULTURALLY.IN PARTNERSHIP WITH COMMUNITY LEADERS AND EDUCATORS, WE IDENTIFY POLICY BARRIERS STANDING IN THE WAY OF SCHOOLS AND PROGRAMS THAT ARE SUCCESSFULLY "CHANGING THE ODDS" FOR STUDENTS. WE THEN WORK WITH OUR PARTNERS TO CRAFT AND EXECUTE CAMPAIGNS TO REMOVE THE BARRIERS.
USE AN EQUITY APPROACH TO ENSURE ALL MINNESOTA STUDENTS RECEIVE AN EXCELLENT EDUCATION
WE EXECUTE STRATEGIC ADVOCACY CAMPAIGNS RELATED TO THREE POLICY "PILLARS":RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS: ED ALLIES CONDUCTS RESEARCH TO BETTER UNDERSTAND THE OPPORTUNITIES AND BARRIERS FACING MINNESOTA STUDENTS AND SCHOOLS, INCLUDING: QUALITATIVE RESEARCH ON PROMISING PRACTICES IN CHANGING-THE-ODDS SCHOOLS, ANALYSIS OF THE NATIONAL EDUCATION POLICY LANDSCAPE, AND PRESENTATION OF DATA TO MAKE IT MORE ACCESSIBLE AND INFORM POLICY DECISIONS.OUTREACH AND ENGAGEMENT: ED ALLIES WORKS TO CHANGE THE NARRATIVE ABOUT WHAT'S POSSIBLE FOR MINNESOTA STUDENTS AND SCHOOLS, AND CREATE A ROBUST, INCLUSIVE DIALOGUE ABOUT HOW TO ADVANCE EQUITY IN EDUCATION. WE ENGAGE EDUCATORS, PARENTS, STUDENTS, AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS IN OUR WORK THROUGH COMMUNICATIONS AND POLICY FELLOWSHIPS AND PROGRAMMING.POLICY ADVOCACY: ED ALLIES IDENTIFIES STRATEGIES FOR BRINGING EFFECTIVE APPROACHES TO SCALE AND REMOVE HURDLES, WHETHER THROUGH STATE POLICY CHANGE, JUDICIAL ACTION, OR CHANGE IN ADMINISTRATIVE POLICY, AND WORKS WITH LOCAL PARTNERS TO ADVANCE NEEDED REFORMS.
