HOUSE OF CHARITY (HOC) PROVIDES PERMANENT HOUSING SOLUTIONS TO THOSE WHO MEET THE DEFINITION OF CHRONICALLY HOMELESS WITH COMPREHENSIVE HOUSING SUPPORTS. THE POPULATION SERVED IS SINGLE ADULTS. THIS TAKES PLACE BOTH IN A DORMITORY STYLE SETTING AT OUR 510 BUILDING WHERE 37,589 NIGHTS OF SERVICES WERE PROVIDED AS WELL AS THROUGH SCATTERED SITES WITH ANOTHER 33,498 NIGHTS PROVIDED IN 2019, THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITY. HOUSE OF CHARITY'S FOOD CENTRE PROVIDES A COMMUNITY MEAL 365 DAYS A YEAR AS WELL AS A BREAKFAST FOR WOMAN AND CHILDREN FIVE DAYS A WEEK. THE FOOD CENTRE ALSO INCLUDES A FOOD SHELF THAT DISTRIBUTES FOOD ONCE A WEEK TO OVER 100 FAMILIES. THE ONLY REQUIREMENT FOR EATING IS TO BE HUNGRY AS HOC OPERATES ON A "NO QUESTIONS ASKED" PHILOSOPHY ENSURING THAT NO ONE IS EVER TURNED AWAY. IN ADDITION TO THE COMMUNITY MEALS, RESIDENTS OF THE 510 BUILDING EAT 3 MEALS A DAY AT THE FOOD CENTRE. A TOTAL OF 86,000 MEALS WERE SERVED IN 2019.
