THE ACADEMY IS AN INTERNATIONAL, PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO CULTIVATING THE SCIENCE OF JURISPRUDENCE, DEFENDING THE PRINCIPLE OF JUDICIAL INDEPENDENCE AND ENCOURAGING THE HIGHEST STANDARDS OF JUDICIAL PERFORMANCE, FACILITATING THE ADMINISTRATION OF JUSTICE, ELEVATING THE STANDARDS OF INTEGRITY, HONOR AND CIVILITY IN THE LEGAL PROFESSION, AND ASSISTING EMERGING NATIONS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF SOUND AND PREDICTABLE PRINCIPLES OF LAW.
ACADEMY OF US AND INTERNATIONAL ATTORNEYS ENGAGED IN CIVIL AND CRIMINAL TRIAL PRACTICE.
THE INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY OF TRIAL LAWYERS IS RECOGNIZED AS THE MOST PRESTIGIOUS ORGANIZATION OF TRIAL LAWYERS IN THE WORLD. MEMBERSHIP IS BY INVITATION ONLY AND IS STRICTLY LIMITED TO 500 ACTIVE TRIAL LAWYERS FROM THE UNITED STATES. IN ADDITION TO 500 U.S. FELLOWS, THE ACADEMY INCLUDES OVER 120 FELLOWS FROM MORE THAN 40 COUNTRIES THROUGHOUT THE WORLD.THE IRELAND PROGRAM. THIS ACADEMY PROGRAM BEGAN IN 2007 AND FOCUSES ON PROMOTING THE RULE OF LAW IN IRELAND AND NORTHERN IRELAND, ENCOURAGING UNDERSTANDING AMONGST THEIR PEOPLE, ENDORSING THE SURVIVAL OF COMMON LAW IN EUROPE, AND PROVIDING YOUNG IRISH BARRISTERS WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO GAIN LEGAL INSPIRATION FROM ACADEMY MEMBERS.INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATIVES. THE ACADEMY HAS HELD COLLABORATIVE PROGRAMS WITH THE AUSTRALIAN BAR, IN THE REPUBLIC OF IRELAND, NORTHERN IRELAND, ISRAEL, MONGOLIA AND UGANDA TO ADVANCE THE RULE OF LAW AND INCREASE THE NUMBER OF INTERNATIONAL FELLOWS. MORE COLLABORATIVES ARE PLANNED IN THE FUTURE.COALITION AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKING. THIS ACADEMY INITIATIVE INVOLVES FELLOWS AND SPOUSES WORKING TOGETHER TO ERADICATE HUMAN TRAFFICKING VIA EDUCATION, LITIGATION, AND LEGISLATION.YOUTH RESTORATIVE JUSTICE AND TRAFFICKING PREVENTION. THE ACADEMY IS CREATING A COMPREHENSIVE MODEL FOR YOUTH RESTORATIVE JUSTICE AND TRAFFICKING PREVENTION IN ORDER TO SUPPLY ITS MEMBERS WITH TOOLS TO BRING ABOUT OR ENHANCE EXISTING YOUTH RESTORATIVE PRACTICES TO CREATE POSITIVE CHANGE IN THEIR OWN COMMUNITIES.CIVIL TRIAL BAR ROUNDTABLE. THE IATL IS AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE CIVIL TRIAL BAR ROUNDTABLE, A COLLABORATIVE EFFORT OF ORGANIZATIONS OF TRIAL LAWYERS. THESE DIVERSE AND TYPICALLY COMPETITIVE GROUPS MEET WITH THE COMMON GOAL OF NURTURING OUR SYSTEM OF JURISPRUDENCE. THE ROUNDTABLE HAS FOSTERED AND ENCOURAGED DISCUSSION AND DIALOGUE ON THE STATUS OF THE U.S. CIVIL JUSTICE SYSTEM.
