Organizations Filed Purposes:
Our mission is to empower communities to develop, improve, protect, and enjoy the Midtown Greenway as a green urban corridor to improve people's lives.
Outreach: Informed and engaged the public about the Midtown Greenway and our work improving it, via print newsletters, e-newsletters, social media, and responses to public requests. Attended community events and expos to educate people about the Greenway and how to use it to improve their health and for transportation.
Greening, Cleaning and Public Art: Planted trees, shrubs and native plants in the Greenway. engaged more than 40 businesses in keeping the Greenway clean through our Adopt-A-Greenway Program. Organized the Greenway Glow arts festival and worked to get more art into the Greenway
Safety and Trail Watch: Engaged volunteers in citizen bike patrols in the Midtown Greenway after dark, resulting in a significant decline in crime. Coordinated a Safety Task Force to engage community volunteers in coming up with additional ways to prevent crime in the Greenway; convinced the City to install new lighting at key areas and to better maintain emergency phones.
