Organizations Filed Purposes: MIDWAY CONTEMPORARY ART IS A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION THAT SUPPORTS THE CREATION OF AND REFLECTION UPON VISUAL ART. MIDWAY FACILITATES SIGNIFICANT NEW DEVELOPMENTS IN THE FIELD AND PRESENTS AUDIENCES WITH INTIMATE ACCESS TO VISUAL CULTURE.

EXHIBITIONS: IN 2019, MIDWAY PRODUCED FOUR SOLO EXHIBITIONS. EACH OF THESE NEW PROJECTS CONNECTED OUR MINNESOTA AUDIENCE TO ARTISTS WORKING GLOBALLY. THE EXHIBITIONS FEATURED NEWLY COMMISSIONED WORKS BY ARTISTS RODRIGO HERNNDEZ, JAGDEEP RAINA, AND JASPER MARSALIS, AND AN INTIMATE SERIES OF WORKS BY YUTAKA MATSUZAWA, WHICH WAS CO-ORGANIZED BY GUEST CURATORS ALAN LONGINO AND REIKO TOMII. MIDWAY COVERS ALL COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE PRODUCTION, FABRICATION, SHIPPING, TRAVEL, AND OTHER RELATED EXPENSES FOR EACH EXHIBTION, AND PROVIDES EXTENSIVE TECHNICAL SUPPORT. MIDWAY ALSO OFFERS A $5,000 STIPEND TO EACH SOLO ARTIST AND/OR GUEST CURATOR. MIDWAY PUBLISHED THREE CATALOGS IN 2019, INCLUDING BHNENBILDER, WHICH FOCUED ON THE WORK FROM SILKE OTTO-KNAPP'S 2017 MIDWAY EXHIBITION; NEARING ON TO DO, FOCUSED ON THE WORK FROM NATHAN HYLDEN'S 2017 MIDWAY EXHIBITION; AND CRATER SPEAK, PUBLISHED IN CONJUNCTION WITH JASPER MARSAILS' 2019 EXHIBITION. PUBLIC PROGRAMS WERE HELD IN CONJUNCTION WITH BOTH JAGDEEP RAINA'S AND YUTAKA MATSUZAWA'S EXHIBITIONS.
