THE LEAGUE OF CATHOLIC WOMEN'S TUESDAY CLUB HAS SERVED AN ELDERLY POPULATION FOR OVER 40 YEARS. 2019 MARKS THE BEGINNING OF ITS 7TH YEAR AT ST. OLAF CATHOLIC CHURCH IN DOWNTOWN MINNEAPOLIS SERVING A DISADVANTAGED POPULATION. YEAR-ROUND ON THE SECOND TUESDAY EACH MONTH, LEAGUE VOLUNTEERS PROVIDE A NUTRITIOUS LUNCH, BINGO, MUSIC, GAMES AND SOCIAL TIME FOR ABOUT 80 PEOPLE, MOSTLY WOMEN. FOOD COSTS ARE BORNE BY THE LEAGUE, WITH IN-KIND DONATIONS FROM SOME TUESDAY CLUB VOLUNTEERS. GUESTS COME FROM EXODUS RESIDENCE(ADJACENT TO ST. OLAF), FROM VARIOUS OTHER PLACES OF DOMICILE IN DOWNTOWN MINNEAPOLIS, FROM CATHOLIC ELDERCARE, LITTLE BROTHERS-FRIENDS OF THE ELDERLY, AND NORTHEAST SENIORS; SOME ARE WALK-IN FROM THE STREET. ALL ARE WELCOME. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH COMMUNITY NON-PROFITS LIKE THE JEREMIAH PROGRAM AND SARAHS OASIS, THE LEAGUE PROVIDES MICRO GRANTS TO QUALIFIED WOMEN IDENTIFIED BY OUR COMMUNITY PARTNERS. GRANT MONEY IN THE FORM OF A CHECK TO THE PARTNER AGENCY COVERS THE CLIENTS SPECIFIED NEEDS. PARTNERING IS A WIN-WIN-WIN SITUATION: OUR COMMUNITY PARTNERS CAN BE COUNTED ON TO BRING IN THE RIGHT APPLICANTS, THE CLIENT RECEIVES FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO HELP HER ACHIEVE HER LIFE GOALS, AND THE LEAGUE REAFFIRMS ITS 109-YEAR-OLD FORWARD-LOOKING VISION.
