THE MAFP PROMOTES THE SPECIALTY OF FAMILY MEDICINE IN MINNESOTA AND SUPPORTS FAMILY PHYSICIANS AS THEY PROVIDE HIGH QUALITY, COMPREHENSIVE AND CONTINUOUS MEDICAL CARE FOR PATIENTS OF ALL AGES.

BECAUSE OF THE BROAD NATURE OF THE SPECIALTY OF FAMILY MEDICINE AND THE POSITIVE IMPACT ON ACCESS TO HEALTH CARE, THE PRODUCTION AND MAINTENANCE OF THE NUMBER OF FAMILY PHYSICIANS SIGNIFICANTLY BENEFITS THE PUBLIC.EDUCATION SERVICES THE ACADEMY CONDUCTS AN ANNUAL TWO-DAY EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM FOR OVER 350 FAMILY PHYSICIANS CALLED THE SPRING REFRESHER. THE ACADEMY CONDUCTS ONE ANNUAL TWO-DAY CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION CONFERENCE ON ROTATING TOPICS FOR APPROXIMATELY 75 PHYSICIANS CALLED DCME. THE ACADEMY CONDUCTS A ONE-DAY EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM CALLED THE RESEARCH FORUM AT WHICH MEDICAL RESEARCH PROJECTS ARE PRESENTED FOR ABOUT 100 PHYSICIANS. THE ACADEMY ALSO CONDUCTS AN ANNUAL RESIDENCY PROGRAM EVENT TO PROVIDE MEDICAL STUDENTS WITH INFORMATION TO HELP THEM EXPLORE AND SELECT A FAMILY MEDICINE RESIDENCY PROGRAM, ALONG WITH SOME TRAINING ON PERFORMING PROCEDURES.PUBLICATIONS THE ACADEMY'S BI-MONTHLY PUBLICATION, MINNESOTA FAMILY PHYSICIAN, PROVIDES MEMBERS WITH INFORMATION ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION, EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES, PATIENT CARE INFORMATION AND PRACTICE OPPORTUNITIES. THE PUBLICATION IS E-MAILED TO ALL MEMBERS IN ACTIVE PRACTICE (APPROXIMATELY 2,000), STUDENT AND RESIDENT MEMBERS. THE ACADEMY MAINTAINS A WEBSITE THAT PROVIDES INFORMATION FOR MEMBERS, PATIENTS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC. THE ACADEMY PUBLISHES AN ELECTRONIC NEWS FLASH TO MEMBERS EVERY MONTH. THE ACADEMY ALSO PRODUCES A QUARTERLY MAGAZINE.
