THE MMAF SUPPORTS THE MISSION OF THE MMA AND ITS VISION IS TO BE THE LEADING VOICE OF MEDICINE TO MAKE MINNESOTA THE HEALTHIEST STATE AND THE BEST PLACE TO PRACTICE.
IMPROVE ACCESS TO HIGH-QUALITY HEALTH CARE AND TO PROVIDE SCHOLARSHIPS TO MEDICAL STUDENTS.
THE MMAF SUPPORTS THE MISSION OF THE MMA PROVIDING ADVOCACY, INFORMATION, EDUCATION AND LEADERSHIP FOR MINNESOTA PHYSICIANS AND THEIR PATIENTS.THE FOUNDATION DEVELOPS AND PROMOTES INITIATIVES TO IMPROVE POPULATION HEALTH. IN 2019, THE FOUNDATION SUPPORTED A HEALTH EQUITY EVENT TO INCREASE AWARENESS OF HEALTH EQUITY ISSUES RELEVANT IN THE LGBTQ COMMUNITIES.PHYSICIAN VOLUNTEERISM PROGRAM (PVP) - THE FOUNDATION ALSO SUPPORTS ITS PHYSICIAN VOLUNTEERISM PROGRAM, WHICH IS A RESOURCE THAT IDENTIFIES VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES SPECIFICALLY FOR PHYSICIANS. THE PROGRAM GROWS OUT OF THE FOUNDATION'S DESIRE TO IMPROVE ACCESS TO CARE IN MEDICALLY UNDERSERVED URBAN AND RURAL COMMUNITIES AND CALLS UPON THE INTEREST IN COMMUNITY SERVICE HELD BY MOST PHYSICIANS.
SCHOLARSHIPS: THE FOUNDATION SUPPORTS MEDICAL STUDENTS BY PROVIDING SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS. IN 2019, THE FOUNDATION AWARDED $6,000 IN GRANTS TO MEDICAL STUDENTS.
THE FOUNDATION SOLICITS AND ADMINISTERS GRANTS TO SUPPORT THE MMA'S MISSION. DURING 2019, THE FOUNDATION ADMINISTERED A GRANT FROM THE COPIC FOUNDATION THAT FUNDED WORK GROUP ACTIVITIES THAT RESULTED IN A SET OF RECOMMENDATIONS BUILT TO HELP THE MMA CATALYZE IMPORTANT IMPROVEMENTS IN HOW MINNESOTA MEASURES AND MONITORS HEALTH. ALSO IN 2019, THE FOUNDATION ADMINISTERED GRANTS FROM OTTO BREMER FOUNDATION, THE SAINT PAUL FOUNDATION, AND THE F.R. BIGELOW FOUNDATION. THESE THREE GRANTS HELPED SUPPORT A PROGRAM TO CLOSE DISPARITIES IN HEALTH CARE ACCESS IN MINNESOTA THROUGH THE USE OF PHYSICIAN VOLUNTEERS.
