The Musicians of the Minnesota Orchestra work collaboratively to inspire an ever-widening audience to seek a lifelong relationship with great symphonic music. Through innovative and engaging programs we will increase access and deepen connections among the musicians, our community, and the Minnesota Orchestra.
In 2014, the Minnesota Orchestra Musicians (MoMO) produced a large scale production of two ticketed events for full symphony orchestra at Ted Mann Auditorium at the University of Minnesota in January 2014. These concerts, led by Hugh Wolff, were attended by 2,400 concertgoers including over 100 students. We also performed three full symphony orchestra concerts at area high schools for our educational series, serving 2,100 students. These occurred on March 21, 2014 at Wayzata High School, April 16, 2014 at Minneapolis South High School, and November 18, 2014 at Mounds View High School. Throughout the year, musicians made 24 visits to elementary, middle & high schools in the Twin Cities to perform and educate students. In addition we provided four chamber music concerts for residents at the Simpson House in Minneapolis, a facility that provides shelter and transitional housing and support services to individual and families in Minneapolis and Hennepin County.
