Northeast Minneapolis Arts Association (NEMAA) is a non-profit arts organization with the mission of promoting and supporting the quality and diversity of artistic resources based in Northeast Minneapolis to benefit artists and the greater community.
NEMAA presents Art-A-Whirl (AAW) in Northeast Minneapolis annually during the third weekend of May. During AAW, private studios and galleries are open to the public, creating a unique opportunity for artists and community to connect. Over 700 NEMAA artists members participate in 60 locations, and hundreds of local organizations and businesses become members and advertisers. NEMAA prints over 20,000 Artists Directories/AAW Guides to distribute throughout the year, coordinates three free trolleys and info stations. Participating artists: 700, Number of visitors: 40,000.
Wintertide Biennial - Wintertide is a biennial juried exhibition produced by Northeast Minneapolis Arts Association (NEMAA), facilitated by Public Functionary. Wintertide was created to highlight NEMAA member artists' high level of professional artistic capability. Over 150 artists applied to the show, 45 received studio critiques, and 20 artists exhibited in the show. Over 1,200 people attended the opening and gallery hours. Opening on January 25, 2019, the majority of planning for Wintertide took place in 2018.
