Organizations Filed Purposes: SERVE AS A CATALYST FOR THE MOVEMENT TO BUILD LIVABLE COMMUNITIES WITH TRANSIT BY INSPIRING PEOPLE IN COMMUNITIES AND REGIONS TO MAKE BETTER TRANSIT AND LAND USE DECISIONS. WE DO THIS BY PARTNERING, EQUIPPING AND CONNECTING PEOPLE AND INSTITUTIONS AT ALL LEVELS.

PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR CREATING LIVABLE COMMUNITIES THAT ARE HEALTHY, ECONOMICALLY VIBRANT, SOCIALLY EQUITABLE, AND ENVIRONMENTALLY SUSTAINABLE, WHERE PEOPLE HAVE TRANSPORTATION CHOICES.

THE RAIL-VOLUTION ANNUAL CONFERENCE PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR CREATING LIVABLE COMMUNITIES THAT ARE HEALTHY, ECONOMICALLY VIBRANT, SOCIALLY EQUITABLE, AND ENVIRONMENTALLY SUSTAINABLE, WHERE PEOPLE HAVE TRANSPORTATION CHOICES. WE HELD THE 2019 CONFERENCE IN VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, WHERE 1,250 PLANNERS, COMMUNITY ACTIVISTS, TRANSIT OFFICIALS, CONSULTANTS, DEVELOPERS, LENDERS, GRASSROOTS ORGANIZATIONS, ACADEMICS, ELECTED OFFICIALS, HEALTH ADVOCATES AND HOUSING ADVOCATES CAME TOGETHER TO SHARE THE MOST CUTTING-EDGE INFORMATION IN THEIR FIELDS. FOR 25 YEARS, THE RAIL-VOLUTION CONFERENCE HAS BEEN THE PLACE TO ENGAGE IN THOUGHTFUL DISCUSSIONS WITH CHANGE MAKERS AND INFLUENCERS FROM OVER 300 COMMUNITIES, A PLACE TO SHARE IDEAS AND BREAKTHROUGHS, FRUSTRATIONS AND INSPIRATION ABOUT BUILDING LIVABLE COMMUNITIES WITH TRANSIT. 2019 WAS ALSO A YEAR OF OUTREACH GROWTH. WE HELD ONE WORKSHOP SESSION AT THE COMTO NATIONAL CONFERENCE.

THE ACT2 PROGRAM (ACCELERATE COMMUNITY TRANSIT + COMMUNITY TRANSFORMATION) IS A CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAM TO SUPPORT EMERGING REGIONS TO BUILD MORE TRANSIT AND EQUITABLE TRANSIT-ORIENTED DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS. THE FIRST PROJECT WAS A ONE-DAY SUMMIT THAT WE ORCHESTRATED IN VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA IN 2016. IN 2018, WE HELD MEETINGS WITH HOUSTON-GALVESTON AREA COUNCIL, LINK HOUSTON AND THE FEDERAL RESERVE BANK OF PHILADELPHIA. IN 2019, WE WORKED WITH THE SCRANTON AREA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION AND THE NEPA MOVES COLLABORATIVE IN NORTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA AND IN HONOLULU WITH MOVE OAHU FORWARD AND PACIFIC RESOURCE PARTNERSHIP TO ADVANCE TRANSIT AND LIVABILITY INITIATIVES. IN EACH CASE, WE PROVIDED EDUCATION TO STAKEHOLDERS ABOUT BUILDING LIVABLE COMMUNITIES WITH TRANSIT AND FOSTERED CROSS SECTOR COLLABORATION. WE ARE WORKING TO IDENTIFY ADDITIONAL REGIONS WHERE WE CAN PROVIDE CAPACITY-BUILDING SERVICES IN THE FUTURE.

RAIL-VOLUTION'S INFORMATION EXCHANGE PROGRAM PROVIDES YEAR-ROUND ACCESS TO VITAL INFORMATION ABOUT BUILDING LIVABLE COMMUNITIES WITH TRANSIT. IN 2019, WE PRODUCED 10 PODCASTS, PUBLISHED MANY BLOGS, AND HOSTED WEBINARS TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC. WE ALSO SHARE INFORMATION ON FEDERAL PROGRAMS (PRIMARILY FTA AND HUD) AND OTHER RESOURCES THAT ARE USEFUL TO OUR LEARNING NETWORK AND THE TRANSIT AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FIELDS.
