Organizations Filed Purposes: RCFL'S MISSION IS TO ACT AS AN AGENT OF HOPE AND TRANSFORMATION TO PRESERVE A VIBRANT COMMUNITY IN THE HARRISON NEIGHBORHOOD & BROADER NORTH MINNEAPOLIS.

PROPERTY MANAGEMENTRCFL AIMS TO PROVIDE ATTAINABLE HOUSING IN AN AREA OF MINNEAPOLIS WHERE IT IS HIGHLY NEEDED. WE MAINTAIN 26 LIVING UNITS INCLUDING 16 EFFICIENCIES, 7 MULTI-BEDROOM APARTMENTS, AND 1 SINGLE-FAMILY HOUSE. IN 2019, RCFL HOUSED 54 INDIVIDUALS INCLUDING THREE FAMILIES AND SIX CHILDREN. WE MAINTAINED A 100% OCCUPANCY RATE. WE FINISHED UNIT RENOVATION IN THE EFFICIENCY APARTMENT BUILDING AND INSTILLED A $25 RENT INCREASE TO ALL RENOVATED UNITS TO SERVE THE LONGEVITY AND MAINTENANCE OF OUR BUILDINGS.

COMMUNITY STRATEGIESIN JANUARY 2018, REDEEMER LAUNCHED A HOUSING SECURITY PIPELINE FOR HARRISON NEIGHBORHOOD RESIDENTS IN NORTH MINNEAPOLIS THROUGH AN ARTPLACE IN AMERICA GRANT. DURING THE SECOND YEAR OF THE PROGRAM IN 2019, LOCAL ARTISTS AND COMMUNITY LEADERS WERE IDENTIFIED AND EMPLOYED TO ENGAGE NEIGHBORS IN HARRISON AND THE BROADER NORTHSIDE TO CHARACTERIZE THEIR EXPERIENCES WITH GENTRIFICATION AND WORKED TO ERODE NEIGHBORHOOD STRATIFICATION AND ESTABLISH NEW RELATIONSHIPS. IN 2019, THE FIRST COHORT OF ARTIST ORGANIZERS COMPLETED AND PRESENTED THEIR PROJECT TO THE COMMUNITY. IN THE SUMMER OF 2019, ANOTHER COHORT WAS IDENTIFIED TO CONTINUE ENGAGING NEIGHBORS IN HOUSING ISSUES. RCFL HIRED NINE ARTIST ORGANIZERS IN ALL.THE HEALTH COMMONS PROVIDED EXERCISE CLASSES, MASSAGE, AND NURSE CONSULTATIONS 4 DAYS PER WEEK AND ENGAGED NEIGHBORS IN HOLISTIC WELLNESS. THE URBAN FARM PROVIDED INDIVIDUAL GARDEN PLOTS AS WELL AS GROWING PRODUCE FOR USE IN THE WEEKLY SUMMER COOKOUTS. RCFL ENGAGE THE COMMUNITY THROUGH ARTS WITH "SIP AND PAINT" EVENTS WHERE COMMUNITY MEMBERS WERE INVITED TO GATHER AND ENJOY PAINTING TUTORIALS WITH A RESIDENT ARTIST.IN 2019 RCFL LAUNCHED THE "DUE NORTH" PODCAST, WHICH FEATURED 10 MEMBERS IN THE COMMUNITY AND THEIR STORIES OF THE HARRISON NEIGHBORHOOD. THIS PROJECT WORKED TO DESTIGMATIZE THE NORTHSIDE AND PROVIDE A PLATFORM FOR RESIDENTS TO SHARE THEIR EXPERIENCES OF BELOVED COMMUNITY IN NORTH MINNEAPOLIS. IN JANUARY 2019, RCFL LAUNCHED AN ANNUAL "WINTER EXTRAVAGANZA" WHERE COMMUNITY MEMBERS WERE INVITED TO ENJOY TWO DAYS OF FREE SNOW TUBING, SNOW SHOEING, AND SKIING AT THE LOPPET TRAILHEAD AT THEODORE WIRTH PARK. DURING THE COURSE OF THESE TWO WINTER EVENTS, 340 PEOPLE ATTENDED. RCFL IS PLEASED THAT THE EVENT WAS SO POPULAR IN THE FIRST YEAR AND PLAN TO CONTINUE THE EVENT. THEODORE WIRTH PARK IS GEOGRAPHICALLY VERY CLOSE TO REDEEMER, BUT FEW NEIGHBORS GO TO THE PARK AND THE LOPPET TRAILHEAD ESPECIALLY. MAKING THE PARK ACTIVITIES ACCESSIBLE TO NEIGHBORS HELPED MITIGATE THE EFFECTS OF GENTRIFICATION.

VENTURE NORTHVENTURE NORTH BIKE AND COFFEE SHOP ENGAGED COMMUNITY MEMBERS IN 10 GROUP RIDES, 153 HOURS OF OPEN SHOP, AND 12 EARN A BIKE GIVEAWAYS IN 2019. 58 BIKES WERE SOLD AND 225 BIKE TUNE-UPS AND TIRE CHANGES WERE DONE BY OUR STAFF AND INTERNS. 3,244 CUPS OF COFFEE WERE SOLD AND THREE YOUTH BARISTAS WERE TRAINED IN HOSPITALITY AND CUSTOMER SERVICE.
