Organizations Filed Purposes: THE MISSION OF THEATER LATTE' DA IS TO CREATE NEW CONNECTIONS BETWEEN STORY, MUSIC, ARTIST AND AUDIENCE BY EXPLORING AND EXPANDING THE ART OF MUSICAL THEATER.

GENERAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS BEFORE COVID STRUCK, FORCING THEATER LATTE DA TO SHUT DOWN ITS OPERATIONS ON MARCH 13, 2020, OUR THEATER WAS EXPERIENCING A TIME OF UNPRECEDENTED GROWTH. IN 2019-20, WE SOLD MORE THAN 2,700 SUBSCRIPTIONS, AN INCREASE OF MORE THAN 60% FROM TWO SEASONS BEFORE. PRODUCTIONS WERE, ON AVERAGE, AT OVER 90% CAPACITY, AND MANY PERFORMANCES WERE SOLD-OUT OR NEARLY SOLD-OUT, INDICATING THAT OUR WORK WAS RESONATING WITH AUDIENCES THAT HUNGERED FOR A DIVERSITY OF STORIES, AESTHETICS, AND PERSPECTIVES. OUR 2019-20 SEASON WAS THE MOST AMBITIOUS ONE TO-DATE, FEATURING THE MOST LOCAL ARTISTS OF ANY PRIOR SEASON (50 ACTORS AND 17 MUSICIANS COMPARED TO LAST SEASON'S 30 AND 12), A FIRST-TIME COMMITMENT TO HIRING UNDERSTUDIES, AND A COMMITMENT TO EXTENDING THE NUMBER OF PERFORMANCE WEEKS TO ALLOW MORE INCOME STABILITY FOR THE ARTISTS WE HIRE. OUR FALL 2019 PRODUCTION OF CHICAGO WAS OUR MOST SUCCESSFUL PRODUCTION IN THE THEATER'S HISTORY, WITH MORE THAN 13,000 PEOPLE IN ATTENDANCE. OUR DOCU-DRAMA ALL IS CALM ALSO SURPASSED BUDGET AND ATTENDANCE GOALS, AND WAS CAPTURED BY THE CORPORATION FOR PUBLIC BROADCASTING FOR NATIONAL BROADCAST IN DECEMBER 2020. WE PRODUCED THE AREA PREMIERE OF BERNARDA ALBA, FEATURING A POWERHOUSE CAST OF SOME OF THE AREA'S STRONGEST FEMALE ACTORS IN FEBRUARY OF 2020. AND WE WERE SET TO OPEN THE MUSICAL LA BOHEME WHEN THE PANDEMIC FORCED OUR SHUTDOWN. NEW WORK THE AMBITIOUS NEXT 20/20 INITIATIVE, LATT DA'S COMMITMENT TO SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF 20 NEW MUSICALS AND PLAYS WITH MUSIC BY 2020, MET THAT GOAL IN FY19. THE WORLD PREMIERE OF THE MUSICAL TWELVE ANGRY MEN WAS PREVENTED FROM BEING STAGED IN JUNE 2020 AS PLANNED, AS WAS OUR EIGHTH ANNUAL NEXT FESTIVAL. HOWEVER MANY PROJECTS CONTINUED TO BE SHEPHERDED THROUGHOUT THE SHUT DOWN, AS WE WERE STILL ABLE TO COMMISSION WRITERS, MUSICIANS AND LYRICISTS TO CREATE WORK, SAFELY, FROM THEIR HOMES, USING VIRTUAL TOOLS FOR SUPPORT AND READINGS. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT IN SEASON 22 WE CONTINUED PARTNERSHIPS WITH ORGANIZATIONS THAT CONNECT OUR WORK TO YOUTH ONSTAGE, WHICH FACILITATES DISCUSSIONS IN COMMUNITY COLLEGE CLASSROOMS THAT CONNECT THE PLAY TO CURRICULA; PROJECT SUCCESS, WHICH BRINGS STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES TO A PERFORMANCE FOR FREE; AND HENNEPIN THEATRE TRUST'S SPOTLIGHT PROGRAM, WHICH PROVIDES A MASTERCLASS LED BY TLD ACTORS AND DISCOUNTED TICKETS FOR STUDENTS. WE ALSO OFFERED A ROBUST TICKET DISCOUNT PROGRAM FOR MEMBERS OF THE LOCAL ACTOR AND MUSICIANS UNIONS; NEIGHBORS LIVING IN THE 55413 ZIP CODE; AND STUDENTS.
