The mission of the Twin Cities Media Alliance is to equip community members--particularly individuals from or working in marginalized communities-- with the power of media arts to define and amplify their narratives, connect across communities, and ultimately drive new thinking and engagement around their stories. This is done in two ways (1) providing media arts and communications trainings like the Frogtown Web Design Internship and classes via MELSA, and (2) executing media arts projects and events like the Twin Cities Daily Planet and Fall Media Forum.

Media Arts Trainings & Services: Metropolitan Library Service Agency (MELSA). We worked with MELSA to offer media arts and communication classes to 100+ public libraries in the seven-county Twin Cities metro. In 2019, we taught over 130 classes and served 629 community members.
Media Arts Projects: Twin Cities Daily Planet. The Daily Planet is an award-winning online publication, and a flagship project of Twin Cities Media Alliance, that amplifies and connects marginalized voices. In 2019, the Daily Planet published immigration-related content produced by an editorial cohort made up of three contributors. Stories touched on topics such as the complicated dynamic of navigating the immigration system as an attorney, and how immigrants are side-stepping traditional food business models.
Media Arts Trainings & Services: Prolog Storycrafting. Prolog was a training series for BIPOC (Black Indigenous People of Color) and women media artists working in areas of journalism, photography, videography and audio. The series focused on strengthening technical capabilities through the lens of narrative using rigorous instruction, while also providing a space for BIPOC and women media artists to connect to each other. We had 40 BIPOC and women media artists attend the Prolog series.
