Organizations Filed Purposes: CLEAN UP THE RIVER ENVIRONMENT (CURE) IS A RURAL, NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION MADE UP OF PEOPLE WHO CARE ABOUT THE WELL-BEING OF THEIR NEIGHBORS, THE HEALTH OF THE LAND AND WATER, AND THE LEGACY WE LEAVE FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS. CURE IS AN ORGANIZATION LONG ROOTED IN THE MOVEMENT FOR RURAL SOCIAL JUSTICE. WIDELY KNOWN AS A COMMUNITY-BASED, GRASSROOTS LEADER, CURE SHARES WHAT IT KNOWS AND DRAWS ON THE EXPERTISE OF OTHERS THROUGH REGIONAL AND NATION-WIDE NETWORK COLLABORATIONS. CURE WORKS IN THE AREAS OF CLIMATE, ENERGY, RURAL DEMOCRACY, WATER, AND CONNECTING PEOPLE WITH NATURE WITH A FOCUS ON CIVIC ENGAGEMENT FLOWING THROUGH ALL PROJECTS.

CURE HOSTS, ORGANIZES, AND ATTENDS NUMEROUS MEETINGS AND ACTIVITIES DURING THE YEAR TO ACCOMPLISH ITS MISSIONS IN THE AREAS OF CLIMATE, ENERGY, RURAL DEMOCRACY, & CLEAN WATER. AN ANNUAL MEETING IS HELD IN MONTEVIDEO. THE DAYLONG MEETING INCLUDED EDUCATIONAL SESSIONS, BREAKFAST AND LUNCH, PROGRESSIVE ROUNDTABLES AND THE ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING. CURE HAS ORGANIZED RURAL ELECTRIC CO-OP MEMBERS TO CHANGE THE CO-OPS PRIORITIES, GROW TRANSPARENCY IN GOVERNANCE, BUILD GRASSROOTS POWER, AND FIGHT AGAINST THE RELIANCE ON DIRTY ELECTRICITY FROM COAL AND INSTEAD TRANSITIONING TO RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES. CURE'S ENERGY DEMOCRACY PROGRAM IS HELPING DELIVER CLEAN ELECTRICITY, ENERGY EFFICIENCY, CLIMATE JUSTICE, AND ECONOMIC JUSTICE TO RURAL COMMUNITIES AND POSITIVE CLIMATE AND ENERGY IMPACTS TO ALL MINNESOTANS. IN 2019, SEVERAL HUNDRED PEOPLE IN WESTERN MINNESOTA ATTENDED CAUCUS TRAININGS HOSTED BY CURE'S RURAL DEMOCRACY PROJECT. CURE HOSTS THE ANNUAL MINNESOTA MASTER NATURALIST PRAIRIES & POTHOLES BIOME TRAINING AT LAC QUI PARLE STATE PARK.
