CU provides Safe Shelter, Stable Housing, Nutritious Food, and a Path Toward Healing to our neighbors in need. All persons are welcome regardless of faith or spiritual perspective, including those who embrace no faith tradition or practice. Micah's Mission Shelter and Community Center (MM), located at 1901 1st Ave N in Moorhead, provides emergency shelter and housing focused case management. The community center is open daily from 8am to 7pm, and offers two hot meals every day, a daily bread shelf, nursing services, and other necessities for day to day life. Dorothy Day House (DDH), located at 714 8th St S in Moorhead, is a small men's shelter with 15 beds serving our most vulnerable in the community in a homelike setting. Monday through Friday, community members are welcome to come and use the laundry and shower services, along with receiving day to day necessity items. In 2019, 982 individuals were sheltered through both MM and DDH, 126 of those were seniors aged 55+ and 173 of those were children. 98 households were placed into stable housing through the case management team. 110,751 meals served between MM and DDH.Dorothy Day Food Pantry (DDFP), located at 1308 Main Ave in Moorhead, is open on Mondays and Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:45pm, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00pm to 2:45pm. DDFP offers a consumer choice focusing on healthy food options for our neighbors in need. Dorothy Day Food Pantry West is connected to Holy Cross Catholic Church, 2820 Bluestem Drive in West Fargo, is a pop-up pantry that is completely run by volunteers. The pantry is open from 3:00pm to 4:00pm on Mondays and Wednesdays. In 2019, the pantries served a total of 17,427 household and distributed over 1,253,893 pounds of food to families in need. Bright Sky Apartments, located at 3305 3rd Ave N in Moorhead, is owned and operated by Churches United. This apartment building is a 43-unit permanent supportive housing in a clean and safe environment. Supportive services include case management and referral, health support, as well as support and empowerment groups. BSA consists of 43 units ranging from efficiencies to 4-bedroom apartments. 39 households were housed over at the Bright Sky Apartments, including 69 adults and 54 children.CU relies on its growing family of member congregations and the community for support in fulfilling our mission to provide Safe Shelter, Stable Housing, Nutritious Food, and a Path Toward Healing. We received help from 8,220 volunteers which gave us 22,083 hours of help across our five locations in 2019.
