OUR MISSION IS TO PROVIDE AN INCLUSIVE, DEVELOPMENTALLY BASED PROGRAM THAT EQUALLY FOSTERS A CHILD'S SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL, PHYSICAL, COGNITIVE, AND LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT, FOCUSING ON INTERACTIVE PLAY. WE PROVIDE A LEARNING ENVIRONMENT BASED ON DEVELOPMENTALLY APPROPRIATE EXPERIENCES IN ALL AREAS OF GROWTH. CHILDREN LEARN THROUGH EXPERIMENTATION, MANIPULATION, OBSERVATION, AND SOCIAL INTERACTION. TEACHERS PLAN THE CURRICULUM FOR THE NEEDS OF BOTH THE GROUP AND THE INDIVIDUAL CHILD.
ALDRICH SERVES APPROXIMATELY 380 PRESCHOOL CHILDREN, PROVIDING THEM WITH AN EDUCATION BUILT ON THE FOUNDATION OF HANDS-ON LEARNING. WE STRIVE TO NURTURE THE WHOLE CHILD AND ENCOURAGE GROWTH IN ALL AREAS OF CHILD DEVELOPMENT, INCLUDING SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL, PHYSICAL, COGNITIVE, AND LANGUAGE. WE OFFER PROGRAMS FOR VARIOUS AGES, AND WE CURRENTLY SERVE APPROXIMATELY 60 2-YEAR-OLDS, 120 3-YEAR-OLDS, AND 200 4-YEAR-OLDS. PROGRAM OPTIONS INCLUDE HALF DAYS 2, 3, OR 5 DAYS PER WEEK AND FULL DAYS 2 OR 3 DAYS PER WEEK FOR SOME AGE GROUPS. IN ADDITION, WE OFFER ENRICHMENT CLASSES SUCH AS LITTLE CHEFS OR SPANISH TO SUPPLEMENT OUR TRADITIONAL PRESCHOOL CLASSES. PROGRAMS SUCH AS EARLY BIRD, LUNCH BUNCH, AND AN AFTER-SCHOOL KIDS' CLUB ENABLE PARENTS TO BUILD A FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE TO BEST FIT THE NEEDS OF EACH FAMILY. WE ALSO OFFER SIX WEEKS OF SUMMER SCHOOL WITH A VARIETY OF THEMES FOR 3 AND 4 YEAR OLDS, INCLUDING UP NORTH AT THE CABIN AND HOW THINGS WORK. OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS COORDINATES VARIOUS FAMILY ACTIVITIES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, INCLUDING PARENT OUTREACHES, FALL FESTIVAL, AND SPRING CARNIVAL. PROCEEDS FROM SOME OF THESE EVENTS GO TOWARD OUR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FUND TO PROVIDE SCHOLARSHIPS TO FAMILIES IN NEED. IN ADDITION, CHILDREN ATTEND ALDRICH THROUGH THE COUNTY'S SCHOOL READINESS PROGRAM AND THE PUBLIC SCHOOL'S EARLY CHILDHOOD SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAM. OUR GOAL IS TO BE ABLE TO OFFER ALL CHILDREN AN OPPORTUNITY FOR PRESCHOOL SO THAT THEY ARE MORE CONFIDENT AND BETTER PREPARED WHEN THEY ENTER KINDERGARTEN.
