CHANNEL ONE STRENGTHENS FOOD ACCESS AND BUILDS HEALTHY COMMUNITIES.
CHANNEL ONE FOOD BANK: Provides food and non-food product to approximately 200 programs provided by approximately 118 nonprofit 501(c)(3) agencies that feed people as part of their program services mission. During the year ended June 30, 2019, Channel One food bank received in 10,451,044 gross pounds of food and non-food items and distributed 9,466,014 pounds to agencies in 13 counties in southern Minnesota and La Crosse County, WI. We also provided 492,693 pounds of food items to other affiliated food banks, for a total of 9,958,707 pounds of food distributed through the food bank. Channel One is dependent on generous food donations. (Continued on Schedule O)
COMMODITY SUPPLEMENTAL FOOD PROGRAM: Nutrition Assistance Program for Seniors (NAPS) provides nutritionally balanced, supplemental federal government commodity food packages to income-eligible senior citizens on a monthly basis in the 13 county service area in Minnesota. There were 13,927 packages distributed in the year ended June 30, 2019.
SUPPLEMENTAL FOOD SHELF: Provides a monthly distribution of food and non-food items, including government commodities to low-income Olmsted county residents. Provided an approximately 5-day supply of food items to 7,889 registered households who participate in this monthly distribution. In total, there were 42,638 household visits during the last fiscal year ended June 30, 2019.
