Organizations Filed Purposes:
DIVERSITY COUNCIL (THE ORGANIZATION) IS A MINNESOTA NONPROFIT CORPORATION. THE MISSION OF THE ORGANIZATION IS TO EDUCATE PEOPLE TO EMBRACE DIVERSITY AS A FOUNDATION FOR BUILDING A HEALTHY, INCLUSIVE, AND PROSPEROUS COMMUNITY.

THE ORGANIZATION AIMS TO CREATE AN EQUITABLE COMMUNITY BY FOCUSING ON THE FOLLOWING AREAS: COMMUNITY MOBILIZATION - RESOURCES, EXPERTISE, AND CULTURAL CONNECTIVITY ARE INVESTED THROUGHOUT THE REGION WHEREVER CRITICAL DIALOGS ARE TAKING PLACE.EQUITY INITIATIVES - HIGH QUALITY EDUCATION AND ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMS ARE CREATED COLLABORATIVELY IN RESPONSE TO COMMUNITY IDENTIFIED NEEDS. TRAINING & CONSULTATION - EDUCATION FOR YOUTH AND ADULTS IS PROVIDED THROUGH TRAINING, CONSULTATION, AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES, GROUNDED IN CURRENT THEORY AND PRACTICE.
COMMUNITY MOBILIZATION - DIVERSITY COUNCIL RECEIVES A VARIETY OF REQUESTS OR ASKS FROM INDIVIDUALS AND ORGANIZATIONS THROUGHOUT ROCHESTER, MINNESOTA, AND ACROSS THE COUNTRY. OVER THE COURSE OF 2019, DIVERSITY COUNCIL RECEIVED: OVER 150 REQUESTS FOR PROMOTIONAL SUPPORT, WHICH INCLUDES THE SHARING OF EVENTS, INFORMATIONAL FLYERS, COMMUNITY CONVENINGS, AND MORE ON OUR SOCIAL MEDIAS AND IN OUR ELECTRONIC NEWSLETTER; OVER 285 REQUESTS FOR REFERRALS TO RESOURCES AND INFORMATION AVAILABLE THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITY AS IT RELATES TO ACCESS, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION; AND OVER 340 REQUESTS DIRECTLY FOR DIVERSITY COUNCIL, WHICH INCLUDES ORGANIZATIONAL INFORMATION, ATTENDANCE, MEETINGS, AND PRESENTATION.
EQUITY INITIATIVES - IN 2019, DIVERSITY COUNCIL HOSTED AND CO-HOSTED ROUGHLY 60 EQUITY EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE ROCHESTER COMMUNITY, INCLUDING HUMAN LIBRARY OF SE MINNESOTA, ALLIES & ADVOCATES TRAININGS, SAFE CITY NIGHTS, COMPLETE COUNT COMMITTEE MEETINGS, INTERCULTURAL CITY INITIATIVE GATHERINGS, RACE EXHIBIT, MARKET FOR ALL, COMMUNITY CONVENINGS (I.E. ROCHESTER LISTENING SESSION ON HATE CRIMES, INCREASE IN STRESS IN ANXIETY IN ABRAHAMIC FAITH CULTURES), AND MORE. DIVERSITY COUNCIL ALSO HOSTED AND CO-HOSTED ROUGHLY 15 HUMANITIES EVENTS, WHICH INCLUDE THE MLK POETRY RECITAL, WORLD MUSIC SERIES 2019, RIVERSIDE CONCERTS, ROCHESTER CIVIC THEATRE AUDITIONS FOR JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, AND MORE.
TRAINING & CONSULTATION - EQUITYLOGIC WAS DELIVERED FOR AN ARRAY OF CLIENTS, SUCH AS ABILITY BUILDING COMMUNITY (ABC), WASHINGTON COUNTY YOUTH SERVICE BUREAU, COTTAGEWOOD SENIOR COMMUNITIES, WINONA STATE UNIVERSITY, ROCHESTER COMMUNITY & TECHNICAL COLLEGE, ROCHESTER PUBLIC LIBRARY, AND BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD MN. TRAININGS COVERED VARIOUS TOPICS INCLUDING INTERGENERATIONAL COMMUNICATION, PRIVILEGE, CULTURAL COMPETENCE, IMPLICIT BIAS, INTERCULTURAL DYNAMICS, AND MORE. YOUTH & WHOLE FAMILY TRAINING SYSTEMS WAS LAUNCHED AND HAS BEEN IMPLEMENTED IN SCHOOLS THROUGHOUT SE MINNESOTA INCLUDING ROCHESTER PUBLIC SCHOOLS, BYRON PUBLIC SCHOOLS, ZUMBRO EDUCATION DISTRICT, BEACON ACADEMY, HIAWATHA VALLEY EDUCATION DISTRICT, PINE ISLAND PUBLIC SCHOOLS, AND KASSON-MANTORVILLE SCHOOL DISTRICT. THIS TRAINING SYSTEM INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING ELEMENTS: EQUITYLOGIC, STANDUP STUDENTS, STUDENT LEADERS CREATING CHANGE, AND BYSTANDER TO UPSTANDER.
