FairVote Minnesota will promote social welfare by advocating for improved voting methods in public elections. FairVote Minnesota will carry out its exempt purpose principally through participation in ballot measure campaigns to amend city charters.
Outreach: 2018 Caucuses and Conventions oPresented RCV resolutions in half the senate districts across Minnesota and tabled at 36 conventions oCollaborated with partner organizations to host a gubernatorial candidate forum on election reform with more than 200 attendees oRan digital ad campaign to raise awareness about RCV during the 2018 election, reaching nearly 400, 000 people. oCollected and delivered more than 600 signed letters of support from delegates to gubernatorial candidates. oRecruited volunteers to attended 30 plus candidate forums across Minnesota to ask candidates about RCV. oCalled and reached nearly 1000 primary voters, getting more than half to sign the RCV petition or contacting a candidate about RCV oHosted a candidate meet & greet with candidates from various parties, with each candidate sharing why they support RCV oCollected and sent nearly 2500 signed postcards to gubernatorial and legislative candidates oConducted RCV poll among likely general election voters to identify familiarity and support for RCV oVideo recorded voters on Primary Day to ask if they wish they could have ranked their choices in the multi-candidate DFL primary races. oKnocked 1775 doors and made 1330 calls to ask voters to contact their candidates oConducted legislative candidate survey to evaluate support for RCV oEngaged more than 120 volunteers who completed at least 650 hours at more than 35 events and activities.
Minnesota State Legislature -- RCV Local Options bill oContinued to build bi-partisan support in the Minnesota legislature for the RCV Local Options bill. oProvided consultation to Maine's RCV ballot measure.
Local advocacy oSt. Louis Park: Passed RCV in St. Louis Park through a unanimous vote by the city council for implementation in 2019. oProvided consultation and organizing to RCV ballot measure efforts in Memphis (TN) and Santa Clara (FL)
