WE CONNECT PEOPLE TO VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES THAT ALIGN WITH THEIR SKILLS AND INTERESTS. OUR WEBSITE HOSTS THOUSANDS OF VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES. INDIVIDUALS AND TEAMS CAN EASILY CUSTOMIZE THEIR SEARCH BY INTEREST AREA, CAUSE, GEOGRAPHY, AND A VARIETY OF OTHER FILTERS. THE HOTC TEAM ALSO PROVIDES PERSONALIZED REFERRALS TO ENSURE THAT VOLUNTEERS ARE CONNECTED WITH THE RIGHT OPPORTUNITIES. HOTC CURRENTLY PARTNERS WITH MORE THAN 500 NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS THROUGH OUR WEB REFERRAL AND AFFILIATE PROGRAM. AS AN AFFILIATE, NONPROFITS RECEIVE PROMOTION OF THEIR VOLUNTEER NEEDS, TRAINING AND RESOURCES TO ENHANCE VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS, THE ABILITY TO NETWORK WITH LEADERS IN THE VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT FIELD, INDIVIDUALIZED SUPPORT, AND CUSTOMIZED SUPPORT FROM OUR TEAM, WHO WORK AS A CONNECTORS FOR ON AND OFFSITE PROJECTS WITH GROUPS AND CORPORATE VOLUNTEERS. IN 2019 WE DIRECTLY COORDINATED MORE THAN 30,000 CORPORATE VOLUNTEERS THROUGH 290 CUSTOMIZED PROJECTS WITH GROUPS RANGING IN SIZE FROM 10 TO 1,500 VOLUNTEERS. MANY NONPROFITS DO NOT HAVE THE CAPACITY TO TAILOR PROJECTS TO SO MANY INDIVIDUAL GROUPS, BUT HAVE NEEDS THAT CAN BE MET BY THESE WILLING VOLUNTEERS. WE WORK ON BEHALF OF ORGANIZATIONS AND ARE THE "WEDDING PLANNERS" OF VOLUNTEERISM, AS WE ARE INVOLVED IN EVERY ASPECT OF THESE VOLUNTEER PROJECTS FROM INCEPTION TO REPORTING OF FINAL RESULTS. WE ALSO COLLABORATE WITH LOCAL COMPANIES, HELPING THEM DEVELOP ENGAGEMENT STRATEGIES FOR THEIR TEAMS THAT ALIGN WITH CORPORATE GOALS. IN ADDITION TO SUPPORTING VOLUNTEER EFFORTS HERE IN MN, THIS PAST YEAR WE COORDINATED AND SUPPORTED PROJECTS IN 20 STATES ACROSS THE US AND OTHER EFFORTS IN SOUTH AFRICA, INDIA, FRANCE, AND CANADA IN PARTNERSHIP WITH MN-BASED COMPANIES.BUILDING ON 100 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE AS THE NATION'S FIRST VOLUNTEER CENTER, HANDSON TWIN CITIES WORKS TO REMAIN ON THE CUTTING EDGE OF VOLUNTEERISM WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP WITH A VARIETY OF STAKEHOLDERS TO TURN PEOPLE'S PASSION TO HELP INTO SOLUTIONS THAT HELP ADDRESS OUR MOST CHALLENGING ISSUES IN OUR COMMUNITY.

CAPACITY BUILDING:HOTC STARTED BUILDING A CASE FOR MORE ROBUST PRO BONO VOLUNTEERISM OPPORTUNITIES IN THE TWIN CITIES. WE PILOTED SEVERAL SUCCESSFUL PRO BONO AND SKILLS-BASED VOLUNTEER OFFERINGS AND OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED OUR PRO BONO ADVISORY PROGRAM. WITHIN THE ADVISORY PROGRAM, WE ACT AS THE CONDUIT BETWEEN PRIVATE SECTOR TALENT AND SOCIAL SECTOR CHALLENGES BY DESIGNING AND IMPLEMENTING PRO BONO OPPORTUNITIES THAT SPECIFICALLY INCREASE CAPACITY-BUILDING AND INFRASTRUCTURE SUPPORT TO NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS. WITHIN THE ADVISORY PROGRAM PORTFOLIO, WE OFFER A QUARTERLY PRINCIPLES OF PRO BONO & SCOPING WORKSHOP OPEN TO ALL NONPROFITS FREE OF CHARGE, WE HAVE SCALED THE VERY SUCCESSFUL CROSS-SECTOR IMPACT DAY EVENT, AND FINALLY, WE ADVISE ON AND DEVELOP INTERNAL PRO BONO PROGRAMS FOR CORPORATE CLIENTS, PROVIDING AN OPPORTUNITY FOR THEIR EMPLOYEES TO NOT ONLY USE THEIR SKILLS BUT BUILD ON THEM BY VOLUNTEERING THEIR TIME AND TALENT PRO BONO TO NONPROFITS. HOTC SO THOROUGHLY BELIEVES IN THE POWER OF PRO BONO FOR NONPROFITS THAT WE AIM TO EMBED THE PRO BONO ETHOS TO PROFESSIONALS AT ALL POINTS IN THEIR CAREER. WE ENGAGE YOUNG PROFESSIONALS IN SKILLS-BASED VOLUNTEERISM THROUGH AN EVENT CALLED FIND YOUR CAUSE AND WE ARE WORKING ALONGSIDE LEGACY NEXT, A GROUP THAT FOCUSES ON PRO BONO OPPORTUNITIES FOR RETIREES TO CREATE THEIR "ENCORE" VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE.HANDSON TWIN CITIES ADDITIONALLY HELPS BUILD NONPROFIT CAPACITY BY FACILITATING SERVICE ENTERPRISE. A SERVICE ENTERPRISE IS AN ORGANIZATION THAT FUNDAMENTALLY LEVERAGES VOLUNTEERS AND THEIR SKILLS ACROSS ALL DEPARTMENTS OF AN AGENCY, TO SUCCESSFULLY DELIVER ON THE SOCIAL MISSION OF THE ORGANIZATION.RESEARCH CONDUCTED BY TCC GROUP AND DELOITTE DEMONSTRATES THAT NONPROFITS OPERATING AS SERVICE ENTERPRISES OUTPERFORM PEER ORGANIZATIONS ON ALL MEASURES OF ORGANIZATIONAL CAPACITY.WHEN AN ORGANIZATION LEVERAGES VOLUNTEERS AND ACHIEVES AN EFFECTIVE VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT MODEL, THEY ARE SIGNIFICANTLY MORE ADAPTABLE, SUSTAINABLE AND BETTER RESOURCED TO BE MORE EFFECTIVE IN ADDRESSING COMMUNITY NEEDS AND OPERATE AT HALF THE MEDIAN BUDGET.TO-DATE, 50+ MINNESOTA ORGANIZATIONS HAVE BECOME CERTIFIED AS A SERVICE ENTERPRISE THROUGH POINTS OF LIGHT, HANDSON TWIN CITIES' NATIONAL PARTNER.
