Organizations Filed Purposes: MNEEP IS ORGANIZED TO INCREASE THE SUCCESS OF MINNESOTA STUDENTS OF COLOR IN MINNESOTA SCHOOLS, COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES. MNEEP CONSISTS OF FOURTEEN EDUCATION INSTITUTION PARTNERS WHO INCLUDE ALL OF MINNESOTA'S PUBLIC AND PRIVATE EDUCATION SYSTEMS, THE MINNEAPOLIS AND SAINT PAUL PUBLIC SCHOOLS, AND SEVERAL SUBURBAN AND RURAL SCHOOL DISTRICTS. MNEEP WORKS CLOSELY WITH STUDENTS, PARENTS, COMMUNITIES OF COLOR, BUSINESS, GOVERNMENT AND OTHER NON PROFITS ON INNOVATIVE STRATEGIES THAT HELP STUDENTS TO SUCCEED.

MINNESOTA EDUCATION EQUITY PARTNERSHIP USES A RACE EQUITY LENS TO TRANSFORM EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS, ORGANIZATIONS, AND LEADERS TO ENSURE THAT STUDENTS OF COLOR AND AMERICAN INDIAN STUDENTS ACHIEVE FULL ACADEMIC AND LEADERSHIP SUCCESS.

BUILDING EQUITABLE SCHOOL COMMUNITIES & CAPACITY OF LEADERS TO LEAD WITH EQUITY LENS (REEEN): MNEEP SOUGHT TO INCREASE THE CAPACITY OF SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES TO PURSUE EQUITY GOALS BY PROVIDING LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR BOTH HEADS OF SCHOOL DISTRICTS AND FOR PARENTS, STUDENTS AND CIVIC ACTIVISTS. IN 2019-2020, THIS OVERALL GOAL WAS SUPPORTED THROUGH DIFFERENT ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING:1. SUPPORTING THE MILLE LACS REGION "PROMISE TO ACT" COLLABORATIVE WITH EDUCATION EQUITY CAPACITY BUILDING SUPPORT SUCH AS:2. PROVIDED COACHING TO LOCAL EQUITY CHAMPIONS FOR FURTHER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SKILL-BUILDING 3. HELD AT LEAST 2-3 EDUCATION EQUITY PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FORUMS WITH LOCAL EDUCATORS AND BOARD MEMBERS.4. HELD YOUTH SUMMIT WITH A NATIONAL SPEAKER5. LAUNCHED A TWO-YEAR "RACE EQUITY SUPERINTENDENTS LEADERSHIP NETWORK" COHORT WITH THOUGHT PARTNERS AND K-12 LEADERSHIP PROFESSORS/RESEARCHERS AT MANKATO STATE UNIVERSITY (MNSU) TO PROVIDE EQUITY TOOLS, SKILL AND WILL-BUILDING SUPPORT

(#TEACHMN2020) CREATE AND RETAIN A RACIALLY DIVERSE TEACHER WORKFORCE (TOC): IN SHIFTING SYSTEMS CULTURE, MNEEP PROVIDED NEW TOOLS AND PROCESSES FOR CROSS-SECTOR STAKEHOLDERS TO RACIALLY DIVERSIFY AND RETAIN THE STATE'S TEACHER WORKFORCE. IN 2019-2020, THIS OVERALL GOAL IS SUPPORTED THROUGH DIFFERENT ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING:1. MNEEP WILL CONTINUED COLLABORATIVE CONVENINGS OF DIVERSE STAKEHOLDERS TO LEARN AND INFORM OTHERS ON NEW PROCESSES FOR DIVERSIFYING TEACHER WORKFORCE2. DESIGNED A THINKING SUMMIT FOR 40 MULTI-SECTOR TEAMS OF 5 TO GET "UNSTUCKED" IN CREATING AND RETAINING A RACIALLY DIVERSE TEACHER WORKFORCE. (PUT ON HOLD DUE TO COVID_19)3. CONTINUED COACHING AND SUPPORTING EXISTING AND NEW PARTNERS IN THE "DISCIPLINE AND STRUCTURE TO TRACK PROGRESS OF THEIR ACTIONS TOWARDS RACIALLY DIVERSIFYING THE STATE'S TEACHER RANKS.4. BUILT A STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP WITH MN DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, THE MN OFFICE OF HIGHER EDUCATION AND THE STATE'S TEACHER LICENSING BOARD (PELSB) TO INCORPORATE THE MNEEP STRATEGIES AS PART OF THEIR ACCOUNTABILITY SYSTEM FOR TEACHER DIVERSITY5. MADE AN INTERACTIVE ONLINE TOOL IMPRINT U - TO SEARCH AND VIEW TEACHER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS ACROSS MINNESOTA'S TEACHER JOURNEY PATHWAYS6. SUPPORTED GENERATION NEXT'S WORK TO DIVERSITY TEACHING FOR MINNEAPOLIS AND ST. PAUL.7. LED TRAININGS IN GREATER MN THIEF RIVER FALLS (JUNE 11-12) AND FERGUS FALL (AUG 5).8. CONDUCTED RESEARCH FOR ON UNDERSTANDING THE HISTORY AND CULTURAL PERSPECTIVES OF THE TEACHING PROFESSION IN DIFFERENT COMMUNITIES OF COLOR.9. CONDUCT RESEARCH ON TEACHER SALARIES (FROM FIRST HIRE TO CAREER OPPORTUNITIES) TO HAVE A MORE NUANCED UNDERSTANDING ABOUT THIS)10. CONDUCT RESEARCH HOW STATE LEGISLATIVE FUNDING FOR DIVERSIFYING TEACHER RANKS WERE USED

FOSTERING POSITIVE SCHOOL CLIMATES TO END DISCIPLINE DISPARITIES IN MINNESOTA SCHOOLS THAT SUPPORT ALL STUDENTS FOR SUCCESS (SNS): ENDING RACIAL DISPARITIES IN SCHOOL DISCIPLINE PRACTICES IN SHIFTING SYSTEMS CULTURE, MNEEP CONTINUED TO TRAIN AND EQUIP SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY LEADERS FOR DEEPER KNOWLEDGE OF CREATING MUTUALLY RESPECTFUL, POSITIVE SCHOOL ENVIRONMENTS WITH POLICIES AND PRACTICES INFORMED BY CRITICAL RACE THEORY. MNEEP SOUGHT TO BOTH BUILD UP THE CAPACITY OF PRACTITIONERS PURSUING ALTERNATIVES TO PUNITIVE SCHOOL DISCIPLINE PRACTICES AND THE CAPACITY OF PARENTS, STUDENTS AND TEACHERS TO ADVOCATE FOR ALTERNATIVES. IN 2019-2020, THIS OVERALL GOAL WAS SUPPORTED THROUGH DIFFERENT ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING:1. CONDUCTED A STATEWIDE SCHOOL CLIMATE SYMPOSIUM AT HAMLINE UNIVERSITY2. FACILITATED A SCHOOL CLIMATE COHORT OF SELECT SCHOOL DISTRICTS LEADERSHIP LEARNING TEAMS TO PARTICIPATE IN A BLENDED LEARNING MODEL WITH HAMLINE UNIVERSITY AS A PARTNER. THE COHORT MET AT VARIOUS TIMES DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR CULMINATING IN A SPRING SHOWCASE.3. DEVELOPED A BEST PRACTICE RUBRIC FOR SCHOOLS.4. WORKED WITH THE MN DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN RIGHTS TO SUPPORT OVER 40 SCHOOL 5. PUBLISHED AN ONLINE DISCIPLINE PRACTICES TOOL KIT TO BE USED BY PARENTS, STUDENT, EDUCATORS AND COMMUNITY ADVOCATES IN ASSERTING THEIR EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY RIGHTS.
