TOGETHER, THEY REDESIGNED INTERNAL EXHIBITIONS TO DISPLAYING THE ARTWORK IN ITS LARGE, RETAIL WINDOWS AND IN SKYWAYS THAT ARE SEEN BY PEDESTRIANS AND PASSING VEHICLES BRINGING TIMELY AND IMPORTANT STORIES ABOUT THE AMERICAN EXPERIENCE TO THE PUBLIC, FREE OF CHARGE, NOW 24 HOURS A DAY, SAFELY. THESE EXHIBITS WERE SUPPORTED WITH EXPANDED VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING. THE PANDEMIC ALSO PROVIDED THE IMPETUS TO EXPAND ITS VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING WITH OPPORTUNITIES FOR DEEPER ENGAGEMENT AND INTERACTION WITH THE EXHIBITIONS, COLLECTION, PARTNERS, ARTISTS AND OTHER PROGRAMS VIA THE M'S WEBSITE, FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM AND TWITTER. EXAMPLES: M @ HOME WEB PORTAL PROVIDES VIRTUAL TOURS AND COMPREHENSIVE DIVES INTO THE COLLECTION AND CURRENT EXHIBITIONS. COMMUNITY CONVENINGS CONNECTS AUDIENCES TO THE EXHIBITION CONTENT VIA ONLINE CONVERSATIONS. THE CONSTRUCTION OF A PERMANENT HOME IN THE PIONEER ENDICOTT BUILDING IS CRITICAL TO REINVIGORATE AND POSITION THE VISUAL ARTS ON PAR WITH THE OTHER GREAT EAST METRO INSTITUTIONS; AND TO ESTABLISH AN IMPORTANT ANCHOR THAT CONNECTS THE LIVELY ARTS SCENE IN ST. PAUL'S LOWERTOWN AND THE VENERABLE CULTURAL ORGANIZATIONS SURROUNDING RICE PARK. THE FIRST PHASE OPENED IN 2018 AND THE SECOND AND FINAL PHASE WILL OPEN IN 2023.
