TO IMPROVE, PROTECT & PROMOTE THE WELFARE OF THE RESTAURANT & FOODSERVICE INDUSTRIES IN MINNESOTA
INDUSTRY & MEMBERSHIP PROMOTION: THE MINNESOTA RESTAURANT ASSOCIATION (MRA) IS A RESPECTED AND INFLUENTIAL LEADER AND AN ADVOCATE FOR THE FOOD SERVICE INDUSTRY IN MINNESOTA. THE MRA CONTRIBUTES TO THE PROSPERITY OF ITS MEMBERS BY PROVIDING STRONG ADVOCACY, VALUABLE RESOURCES AND ACCESS TO KNOWLEDGE AND TOOLS THAT ENHANCE THE IMAGE OF THE INDUSTRY.THE MRA CO-HOSTS AN ANNUAL HOSPITALITY & TOURISM DAY AT THE CAPITOL DURING EACH MINNESOTA LEGISLATIVE SESSION, PART OF ITS CONSTANT EFFORT TO GUIDE POLICY AND REGULATORY ISSUES ON THE STATE AND LOCAL LEVEL. THE MRA IS ALSO A SPONSOR OF THE CHARLIE AWARDS, AN ANNUAL EVENT CELEBRATING THE EXCEPTIONAL CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE TWIN CITIES RESTAURANT, FOOD AND DRINK INDUSTRY.
WEBSITE AND PUBLICATIONS:THE MRA MAINTAINS A WEBSITE (WWW.MNRESTAURANT.ORG) WITH RESOURCES AND INFORMATION FOR ITS MEMBERSHIP. THE ASSOCIATION SPONSORS A MONTHLY COLUMN AND FEATURED ARTICLES ON ITS ACTIVITIES THROUGH A PARTNERSHIP WITH ANOTHER STATEWIDE INDUSTRY PUBLICATION. THE MRA ALSO PUBLISHES A BI-ANNUAL LEGAL GUIDE OUTLINING STATE AND FEDERAL LAWS AND REGULATIONS PERTAINING TO THE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY IN MINNESOTA, AND AN HR TOOLKIT PROVIDING EMPLOYMENT GUIDELINES AND BEST PRACTICES.
EDUCATION:THE ASSOCIATION CO-SPONSORS CLASSES FOR FOOD SAFETY TRAINING THROUGH THE NATIONAL RESTAURANT ASSOCIATION'S SERVSAFE FOOD PROTECTION MANAGER CERTIFICATION PROGRAM AND FOR THE RE-CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR THE MINNESOTA FOOD MANAGER'S LICENSE. THE 2018 MINNESOTA HOSPITALITY EXPO HAD 600 INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS PARTICIPATE IN 10 SEMINARS ON VARIOUS HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY TOPICS.THE MRA ENDOWS AN ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP THROUGH THE HOSPITALITY MINNESOTA EDUCATION FOUNDATION IN SUPPORT OF STUDENTS PURSUING CAREERS IN THE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY. MRA MEMBERS ALSO MENTOR AND SUPPORT THE PROSTART PROGRAM, A HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL TECHNICAL EDUCATION PROGRAM DEVELOPING THE RESTAURANT MANAGEMENT AND CULINARY ARTS SKILLS OF THE FUTURE WORKFORCE OF THE INDUSTRY.
