Franconia Sculpture Park is the pre-eminent, artist-centeredsculpture park in the Midwest. Founded in 1996, Franconiaprovides physically and intellectually wide-open spaces thatinspire new ways of thinking through access to contemporarysculpture, installation and land art. Arts Education & Public Programs: Franconia provides a depth and breadth of both on-site and in-school education programs that supplement STEAM curriculum. Programs include weekly tours, multigenerational artmaking workshops, Observe & Interpret workshops, field trips, summer camps, Dinner & Discussion lectures, Music at Franconia concerts, Film at Franconia screenings, and Performance at Franconia events.
Engagement: Franconia operates a 50-acre outdoor museum that includes Franconia Commons, a 7,000 sq. foot Visitor Center, Education Space, Gallery and Gift Shop. Our activities cultivate critical dialogue between artists and audiences; support artists through the production and presentation of new, experimental work; and educate artists and audiences of tomorrow. Franconia applies creative solutions to the problems of today and tomorrow through the vehicle of contemporary sculpture. We create bold programming that is ambitious, innovative, and that is responsive to the wants and needs of artists and our community. Moreover, Franconia aims to create a welcoming, inviting space for all visitors to learn more about art, the environment, and the changing world we live in. Franconia is free and open to the public 365-days a year, and services 108,000 adults and 72,000 youths annually.
Artist Residency: Franconia provides year-round residency programs that provide money, studio space, professional development, and exhibition opportunity for more than 40 artists and writers annually working at the intersection of sculpture, installation, social practice, performance, and land art. Our current programs include: Winter Writers Residency, Emerging Artists-in-Resience Residency, and Mid-Career Fellowships.
