To obtain equal employment and advancement opportunity in the industry and honesty in news, editorials, advertising and business practices to raise the standards of journalism and ethics of the industry to foster friendly cooperation with all other workers and to promote industrial unionism in the jurisdiction of the Guild.

During the fiscal year ending September 2020 the Local initiated and concluded contract negotiations with 4 employers. The Local also continued negotiations with one employer that began in the previous fiscal year that was then delayed due to the COVID pandemic. Two new units were certified this year and contract negotiations have begun with both employers. Throughout the year the Local represented members at employer investigatory meetings and worked with members on workplace issues. A total opf seven grievances were filed in the fiscal year of which one was settled through mediation, five were closed or withdrawn, and one is being moved to arbitration. The New Local Office Seminar and all conferences were cancelled this year due to the COVID 19 pandemic.
