TO INSPIRE CHARACTER AND INTEGRITY IN THE FINANCE LEADERS OF TOMORROW.
LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM: OVER 260 MEMBERS OF SOF GRADUATED FROM THIS PROGRAM IN FY 2020. SOF'S 6-WEEK CURRICULUM GUIDES STUDENTS THROUGH BUILDING THEIR "INTERNAL" LIFE, EXAMINING, AND CONSTRUCTING THEIR VALUE SYSTEMS, AND HONING THEIR CHARACTER TO GROW AS ETHICAL FUTURE LEADERS OF FINANCE. THE PROGRAM IS BASED IN RESEARCH, EDUCATION, AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT BEST PRACTICES, AND IS OFTEN DESCRIBED AS A LIFE-CHANGING EXPERIENCE BY MEMBERS. THE PROGRAM IS FREE FOR ALL STUDENT MEMBERS. IT INCLUDES LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT OBJECTIVES, MEANS FOR TRACKING PROGRESS, SELF-REFLECTION, READING, DISCUSSION MATERIALS, AND GUIDELINES FOR BUILDING COMMUNITY, ACCOUNTABILITY, AND CLEAR ACTION PLANS FOR PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT.
MENTORSHIP: IN FY 2020, OVER 100 STUDENTS RECEIVED MENTORSHIP THROUGH SOF'S MENTORSHIP NETWORK PROGRAM. SOF'S MENTORSHIP NETWORK PAIRS STUDENTS WITH FINANCE PROFESSIONALS AS MENTORS TO FURTHER THEIR PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. SOF CONNECTS STUDENTS FROM ALL BACKGROUNDS WITH LOCAL BUSINESS LEADERS IN THEIR COMMUNITIES. THE MENTORSHIP NETWORK IS A WAY FOR STUDENTS TO ACTIVELY DEVELOP THEIR ETHICS AND PRINCIPLES UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF RESPECTED PROFESSIONAL MENTORS. MENTORS ACTIVELY GUIDE THE DEVELOPMENT OF STUDENTS' MORAL COMPASSES. THE MENTORSHIP PROGRAM IS FREE FOR ALL STUDENT MEMBERS.
SPEAKING AND SYMPOSIA: SOF HOSTED 25 EVENTS IN FY 2020 AND REACHED 640 STUDENTS. SPEAKER SERIES EVENTS HOST PRINCIPLED LEADERS IN FINANCE WHO SPEAK ROUTINELY AT LOCAL CHAPTERS AND AT THE NATIONAL LEVEL. ALL EVENTS WERE HELD VIRTUALLY THIS YEAR. THE SPEAKER SERIES PROGRAM PROVIDES DISCUSSION OF ETHICS-BASED LEADERSHIP WITH FINANCE EXECUTIVES IN A MORE INTIMATE SETTING THAN THE ANNUAL SYMPOSIUM. IN FY 2020, ALL SYMPOSIA WERE POSTPONED DUE TO THE NOVEL COVID-19 VIRUS. ANNUAL SYMPOSIA TYPICALLY FEATURE C-SUITE TOP FINANCE EXECUTIVES AS SPEAKERS. THE AUDIENCE OF UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS AND YOUNG FINANCE PROFESSIONALS TYPICALLY SHARE DINNER WITH THE HOST SPEAKERS FOLLOWING KEYNOTE AND PANEL DISCUSSIONS.
