To raise funds for basic needs of the people of East Africa, with particular focus on Uganda.
The Foundation's sole purpose is to raise funds for basic human needs in the areas of healthcare and education for the people of East Africa, with a focus on Uganda for continued hospital construction and equipment acquisition for the Ruth Gaylord Hospital that began operations on March 21, 2013. Hope Medical Clinics Uganda furthers the foundation's goals of meeting basic healthcare needs for the people of Uganda. Hope Medical Clinics Uganda's Ruth Gaylord Hospital is a general hospital with special attention given to maternal and pediatric care due to the high maternal and infant mortality rates in Uganda. The Ruth Gaylord Hospital Maganjo's total patient visits grew by 35% in 2019 compared to 2018, increasing from 24,597 visits to 33,142. Other highlights: over 19,369 outpatient visits, over 7,300 vaccinations administered, 200 surgeries of which 41 were totally free to the beneficiary, 2,581 ultrasound scans and 526 X-ray examinations, 89 pairs of eyeglasses distributed, 1,500 prenatal visits, at least 293 healthy babies delivered, and over 457 inpatients served, among other services. Expanding Hospital Services Acquired and set up a new, second Operating Room (O.R) with brand new equipment such as anesthesia machine, O.R. lights, suction machine, diathermy machine, operating table, surgeons' stools, emergency medicine trolley, oxygen therapy accessories, among others. This new OR has expanded our surgical capacities and aided the free surgical missions conducted in partnership with University of Minnesota Medical school and Makerere University Kampala, Uganda. In November 2019, 41 free surgeries were accomplished at Ruth Gaylord Hospital Maganjo. We have in addition acquired a new 3D, color, ultrasound scanner that gives a better visual of the unborn babies. Community Service:a. Sustained growth in patient visits and free services. Patient visits to the hospital have continued to grow. The hospital attended to 33,126 patients' visits in 2019. There were over 20,000 free services offered, including 13,083 malaria tests, 7140 free vaccine doses administered, 89 free pairs of eyeglasses, 41 free lifechanging surgeries and free consultations for patients with chronic conditions such as Hypertension and diabetes.b. Value of free servicesAt an average cost of $1.25 for a malaria test, we conducted 13,083 free malaria tests translating into $16,353.75 worth of waivers to the patients.Dedicating 3 nurses to give vaccinations each Thursday costs us 90,000 UGX ($24) in allowances per week, amounting to 4,680,000 UGX ($1,265) per year.We executed 41 free lifechanging surgeries at an average cost of $1,000 per beneficiary totaling to $41,000 worth of free surgery services to the patients.We gave 89 free reader glasses to those with visual challenges and each of these costing around $30 translating into $2,670
