GENDER JUSTICE IS A NONPROFIT LAW AND POLICY ADVOCACY ORGANIZATION DEVOTED TO ADVANCING GENDER EQUALITY THROUGH THE LAW.
TO ADDRESS THE CAUSES AND CONSEQUENCES OF GENDER INEQUALITY, BOTH LOCALLY AND NATIONALLY.

WE BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF THE COURT TO CHANGE OUR LEGAL SYSTEM AND OUR SOCIETY. WE USE THE LAW TO HELP PEOPLE AND TO ADVANCE OUR VISION OF A SOCIETY FREE FROM GENDER BARRIERS. GENDER JUSTICE LAWYERS REPRESENT INDIVIDUALS OR CLASSES OF PEOPLE IN TARGETED LAWSUITS DESIGNED TO CORRECT GENDER INJUSTICE AND BRING ABOUT SYSTEMATIC CHANGE. OUR LAWSUITS CHALLENGE ENTRENCHED STEREOTYPES AND PROMOTE EQUAL OPPORTUNITY. THE ORGANIZATION SEEKS TO WORK WITH THOSE WHO HAVE THE LEAST ACCESS TO JUSTICE AND WHOSE STORIES NEED TO BE TOLD. HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE WORK FIGHTING DISCRIMINATION AGAINST TRANSGENDER WORKERS AND PATIENTS, PROTECTING THE WORKPLACE RIGHTS OF PREGNANT AND NURSING MOTHERS, COMBATTING RAPE MYTHS THROUGH CIVIL SUITS AGAINST PERPETRATORS, PROTECTING THE RIGHT TO AN ABORTION AND CONTRACEPTION, AND CONFRONTING HIDDEN BIAS THAT CONTRIBUTES TO JOB SEGREGATION AND THE GENDER WAGE GAP.IN COALITION WITH LOCAL AND NATIONAL PARTNERS, GENDER JUSTICE WORKS TOWARD IMPROVING LOCAL STATE AND FEDERAL PUBLIC POLICIES TO BRING OUR SOCIETY CLOSER TO ONE IN WHICH ALL PERSONS CAN REACH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL, REGARDLESS OF THEIR SEX, GENDER IDENTITY OR EXPRESSION, OR THEIR SEXUAL ORIENTATION. GENDER JUSTICE GIVES A VOICE TO OUR CONSTITUENTS IN THE POLICY ARENA, AND PROVIDES TECHNICAL LEGAL ASSISTENCE TO ADVOCATES AND LEGISLATORS. ASSISTANCE OFTEN INCLUDES IDENTIFYING AND ANALYZING POLICY OPTIONS, DRAFTING LEGISLATION, AND PROVIDING TESTIMONY ON PROPOSED LEGISLATION.GENDER JUSTICE USES MULTIPLE CHANNELS TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ABOUT WHY GENDER BARRIERS PERSIST AND WHAT THEY CAN DO TO ELIMINATE THEM THROUGH TRAININGS, PUBLIC SPEAKING, PUBLICATIONS, AND SOCIAL MEDIA. GENDER JUSTICE CALLS ATTENTION TO THE ROLE THAT HIDDEN BIASES PLAY IN DISCRIMINATION AND THE CONNECTIONS BETWEEN THE MANY FACES OF GENDER BIAS.
