MERRICK'S CAREER SERVICES PROGRAM PROVIDES UN- AND UNDER-EMPLOYED ADULTS WITH ACCESS TO SKILL TRAINING PROGRAMS, JOB SEARCH ASSISTANCE, AND OTHER SUPPORTS. MERRICK IS A LEADER IN THE EAST SIDE EMPLOYMENT XCHANGE AS WELL, A COLLABORATIVE OF A DOZEN PARTNERS SERVING EAST SIDE COMMUNITIES WITH EMPLOYMENT SERVICES AND RELATIONSHIPS TO AREA EMPLOYERS. IN THE YEAR ENDING JUNE 2020, MERRICK'S EMPLOYMENT & CAREER SERVICES REACHED CLOSE TO 150 ADULTS. OVER 2450 YOUTH WERE REACHED THROUGH SEASONAL EFFORTS: BACKPACK DISTRIBUTION & SUMMER CAREER EXPLORATION WITH BUSINESS PARTNERS.
FAMILY SERVICES MERRICK'S FAMILY SERVICES PROGRAM OFFERS A CONTINUUM OF EDUCATION AND ENGAGEMENT OPPORTUNITIES AND SOCIAL SERVICE PROGRAMS TO STRENGTHEN AND PROMOTE HEALTHY FAMILIES. THESE INCLUDE CASE MANAGEMENT, GROUPS SUCH AS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND PARENTING SUPPORT, EVENTS SUCH AS BACK-TO-SCHOOL BACKPACK AND SUPPLIES GIVEAWAYS, AND INTRA-AGENCY AND EXTERNAL REFERRALS. THIS ALSO INCLUDES MERRICK'S LEADERSHIP IN THE SUBURBAN RAMSEY FAMILY COLLABORATIVE. MERRICK PROVIDED FAMILY SERVICES TO OVER 1,600 INDIVIDUALS FROM JULY 2019 TO JUNE 2020.
FOOD SHELVES MERRICK PROVIDES NUTRITIONAL SERVICES THROUGH FOOD SHELVES LOCATED AT 1669 ARCADE STREET AND IN PARTNERSHIP WITH WOODLAND HILLS CHURCH AND JOHN GLENN MIDDLE SCHOOL ON THE EAST SIDE OF SAINT PAUL. WITH AN EMPHASIS ON NUTRITION, FOOD SHELVES OFFER FRESH PRODUCE, AS WELL AS LOW-SODIUM, NON- CANNED, AND NON-BOXED CULTURALLY-SPECIFIC FOOD THAT CAN BE PREPARED AT HOME. TYPICALLY, WE REACH ABOUT 200 FAMILIES A WEEK WHO SHOP WITH US; AND ARE NOW PROVIDING "CURBSIDE PICK-UP" THROUGH THE COVID PANDEMIC. IN THE YEAR ENDING JUNE 2020, WE PROVIDED OVER 600,000 LBS OF FOOD TO ABOUT 10,000 HOUSEHOLDS.
