Organizations Filed Purposes: THE METROPOLITAN REGIONAL ARTS COUNCIL IMPROVES ARTS ACCESS FOR COMMUNITIES IN THE SEVEN COUNTY METROPOLITAN AREA THROUGH SUPPORT TO ARTISTS AND ORGANIZATIONS.

THE ARTS PROJECT SUPPORT GRANT PROVIDES UP TO $10,000 IN PROJECT FUNDING FOR GROUPS WISHING TO OFFER QUALITY ARTS ACTIVITIES IN ANY DISCIPLINE TO COMMUNITIES WITHIN THE SEVEN-COUNTY METRO AREA: ANOKA, CARVER, DAKOTA, HENNEPIN, RAMSEY, SCOTT AND WASHINGTON COUNTIES. PROJECTS SHOULD BENEFIT MINNESOTANS. GRANT REQUESTS MUST OUTLINE SPECIFIC ARTS PROJECTS THAT MAY INCLUDE RELATED COSTS FOR ARTISTS AND OTHER PERSONNEL, SUPPLIES, EQUIPMENT RENTAL, AND OTHER EXPENSES NEEDED TO CARRY OUT THE PROJECT. IN FY2020, MRAC RECEIVED 506 APPLICATIONS REQUESTING $4,514,450, AND AWARDED 241 GRANTS TOTALING $2,240,507 IN THIS PROGRAM.THE ARTS LEARNING PROGRAM PROVIDES GRANTS OF UP TO $10,000 FOR HIGH-QUALITY, ARTS EDUCATION FOR MINNESOTANS OF ALL AGES TO DEVELOP KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE ARTS AND/OR LEARNING THROUGH THE ARTS. IN FY2020, MRAC RECEIVED 138 APPLICATIONS REQUESTING $1,296,572, AND AWARDED 54 GRANTS TOTALING $520,102 IN THIS PROGRAM.THE CAPITAL GRANT PROGRAM PROVIDES FUNDS OF UP TO $10,000 TO PURCHASE EQUIPMENT AND RELATED SUPPLIES AND SERVICES, OR TO MAKE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS. SUCH ACTIVITIES MUST 1) ADVANCE THE MISSION OF THE GROUP AND 2) HAVE THE POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT OR LONG-TERM IMPACT. IN FY2020, MRAC RECEIVED 53 APPLICATIONS REQUESTING $468,977 AND AWARDED 23 GRANTS TOTALING $198,004 IN THIS PROGRAM.THE MANAGEMENT CONSULTING FUND PROGRAM OFFERS GRANTS OF UP TO $2,000 TO PROVIDE CONSULTANTS FOR GROUPS TO COMPLETE SMALL PROJECTS TO STRENGTHEN THE MANAGEMENT OR ADMINISTRATION OF THE GROUP. SUCH MANAGEMENT CONSULTING PROJECTS MUST 1) STRENGTHEN THE MANAGEMENT OR ADMINISTRATION OF NONPROFIT ARTS GROUPS, 2) ADVANCE THE MISSION OF THE GROUP, AND 3) HAVE THE POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT OR LONG-TERM IMPACT. IN FY2020, MRAC RECEIVED 74 APPLICATIONS REQUESTING $147,675 AND AWARDED 41 GRANTS TOTALING $81,875. THE MANAGEMENT TRAINING FUND PROGRAM OFFERS GRANTS OF UP TO $600 TO PROVIDE TRAINING FUNDS FOR THE STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS OF NONPROFIT ARTS GROUPS TO ATTEND MANAGEMENT WORKSHOPS, SEMINARS OR CONFERENCES. IN FY2020, MRAC RECEIVED 44 APPLICATIONS REQUESTING $10,000 AND AWARDED 38 GRANTS TOTALING $8,950.THE ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM PROVIDES GRANTS OF UP TO $10,000 FOR PROJECTS DESIGNED TO STRENGTHEN THE MANAGEMENT OR ADMINISTRATION OF NONPROFIT ARTS GROUPS. SUCH PROJECTS MUST 1) ADVANCE THE MISSION OF THE GROUP AND 2) HAVE THE POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT OR LONG-TERM IMPACT. IN FY2020, MRAC RECEIVED 64 APPLICATIONS REQUESTING $629,914 AND AWARDED 28 GRANTS TOTALING $276,808 IN THIS PROGRAM.THE ACCESS IMPROVEMENT GRANT PROGRAM PROVIDES SUPPORT UP TO $10,000 FOR GROUPS TO COMPLETE PROJECTS IMPROVING ACCESS TO THE ARTS FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES. IN FY2020, MRAC RECEIVED 33 APPLICATIONS REQUESTING $283,778 AND AWARDED 12 GRANTS TOTALING $107,382 IN THIS PROGRAM.IN RESPONSE TO CRISES RELATED TO THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC, THE EMERGENCY RELIEF FUND PROVIDES GRANTS OF UP TO $2500 OF EMERGENCY RELIEF FOR ART NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS AND FISCALLY-SPONSORED ARTS GROUPS. IN FY2020, MRAC RECEIVED 213 APPLICATIONS REQUESTING $514,467 AND AWARDED 109 GRANTS TOTALING $273,984 IN THIS PROGRAM.THE NEXT STEP FUND IS MRAC'S GRANT PROGRAM FOR INDIVIDUAL ARTISTS, PROVIDING $2500 GRANTS TO PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS IN ANY DISCIPLINE FOR THE PURPOSE OF CAREER DEVELOPMENT AND ARTISTIC ACHIEVEMENT. THE NEXT STEP FUND IS FUNDED ENTIRELY BY THE MCKNIGHT FOUNDATION. IN FY2020, MRAC RECEIVED 517 APPLICATIONS AND AWARDED 72 GRANTS TOTALING $180,000.MRAC ALSO PROVIDES SKILL-BUILDING TRAININGS FOR ADMINISTRATORS OF SMALL ARTS ORGANIZATIONS AT NO CHARGE TO PARTICIPANTS IN AREAS SUCH AS MARKETING, FINANCE, FUND-RAISING, AND GOVERNANCE. IN FY2020, MRAC PROVIDED 54 TRAININGS FOR 746 PARTICIPANTS.ADDITIONALLY, MRAC ALSO PROVIDES GRANT WORKSHOPS FOR PROSPECTIVE APPLICANTS PRIOR TO EACH PROGRAM DEADLINE. PARTICIPANTS LEARN ABOUT THE GRANT PROGRAM, APPLICATION PROCESS, AND HOW TO WRITE AN EFFECTIVE MRAC GRANT APPLICATION. IN FY2020, MRAC PROVIDED 15 GRANT WORKSHOPS FOR 467 PARTICIPANTS.
