Organizations Filed Purposes: WE BELIEVE THAT WHEN EVERY INDEPENDENT SCHOOL IS CONNECTED AND STRONG, MINNESOTA'S FAMILIES WILL BE ABLE TO SELECT THE SCHOOL THAT BEST FITS THEIR CHILDREN, AND MINNESOTA'S STUDENTS WILL EXCEL.

MISF CONNECTS AND STRENGTHENS MINNESOTA'S INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS THROUGH EXCEPTIONAL TRAINING, RESOURCES, AND ADVOCACY SO THEY CAN BE STUDENT-CENTERED AND MISSION-DRIVEN.

THE MISF STEM PROGRAM, NOW IN ITS TWELFTH YEAR, ENCOURAGES AND SUPPORTS MISF MEMBER SCHOOLS IN THEIR EFFORTS TO INTRODUCE AND ENHANCE STEM EDUCATION IN THEIR SCHOOLS. THE PROGRAM OFFERS FINANCIAL SUPPORT IN THE FORM OF STEM GRANTS, PRODUCT DONATIONS FROM CORPORATE PARTNERS AND SUBSIDIES FOR ACCESS TO COMMUNITY-BASED STEM PROGRAMS AND RESOURCES. THE PROGRAM ALSO PROMOTES TEACHER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT THROUGH ONGOING TRAINING, AN ANNUAL STEM EDUCATION CONFERENCE, AND ENCOURAGES TEACHERS TO NETWORK AND SHARE IDEAS THROUGH PARTICIPATION IN THE MISF STEM LEARNING COMMUNITY. IN AUGUST, 2019, 157 MATH, SCIENCE, AND TECHNOLOGY TEACHERS, ALONG WITH SEVERAL INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS ATTENDED THE 2019 MISF STEM EDUCATION CONFERENCE. THE COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM WAS CREATED TO ADVANCE EQUITY IN UNDERSERVED SCHOOLS BY PROVIDING OPPORTUNITIES TO SCHOOLS, TEACHERS, AND STUDENTS WHO OFTEN LACK ACCESS TO HIGH-QUALITY STEM PROGRAMMING: LOW-INCOME STUDENTS AND STUDENTS DISTANT FROM MINNESOTA'S URBAN CENTERS. THE COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM FACILITATED ACCESS TO SUPPORT THE FOLLOWING PARTICIPATION: SCIENCE FROM SCIENTISTS (SFS) - 6 SCHOOLS, WE SHARE SOLAR - 3 SCHOOLS, AND THE SCIENCE MUSEUM OF MINNESOTA'S SCIENCE HOUSE - 10 SCHOOLS. THIS YEAR, THE MISF STEM GRANT PROGRAM AWARDED 28 SCHOOLS $97,992 IN STEM GRANTS.

MISF MEMBERSHIP IS 153 SCHOOLS SERVING 33,413 STUDENTS. OUT OF THE TOTAL MEMBER SCHOOLS 78 SERVE ELEMENTARY GRADES (K-8), 19 SCHOOLS SERVE HIGH SCHOOL GRADES ONLY (9-12), AND 56 SCHOOLS SERVE A COMBINATION THAT INCLUDE SECONDARY GRADES (K-12, 6-12, ETC.). DURING 2019-20, MISF HELD NINE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SEMINARS AND THREE MEETINGS WHICH WERE SPECIFIC TO COVID-19 FUNDING. THE FIRST THREE SEMINARS WERE BOTH IN-PERSON AND WEBINAR BASED. BEGINNING IN MARCH, DUE TO COVID-19, WE SWITCHED TO A WEBINAR PLATFORM ONLY. MORE THAN 600 SCHOOL LEADERS AND STAFF FROM THE STATE'S K-12 PRIVATE AND INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS PARTICIPATED IN THE WEBINARS.

THE SCHOOL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE WAS HELD IN SEPTEMBER 2019. SEVENTY-THREE (73) SCHOOL LEADERS AND ADMINISTRATORS ATTENDED MISF'S FIFTHTEENTH ANNUAL SCHOOL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE. IN ADDITION TO SCHOOL LEADERS, PARTICIPANTS INCLUDED SESSION PRESENTERS AND EVENT EXHIBITORS BRINGING THE TOTAL NUMBER OF ATTENDEES TO 98. UNFORTUNATELY WE WERE NOT ABLE TO HOLD OUR ANNUAL AWARDS EVENT DUE TO COVID-19.
