Organizations Filed Purposes: THROUGH UNITY WE WILL STRENGTHEN OUR VOICES AND BUILD RESOURCES TO CREATE AWARENESS AND ELIMINATE SEXUAL VIOLENCE AGAINST INDIAN WOMEN AND CHILDREN.WE WILL VIGOROUSLY APPLY OUR EFFORTS TOWARD INFLUENCING SOCIAL CHANGE AND RECLAIM OUR TRADITIONAL VALUES THAT HONOR THE SOVEREIGNTY OF INDIAN WOMEN AND CHILDREN.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING - PROVIDED EDUCATION AND TRAINING IN MINNESOTA AND NATIONALLY TO INCREASE AWARENESS OF SEXUAL VIOLENCE AND SEX TRAFFICKING OF AMERICAN INDIAN WOMEN AND ALASKA NATIVE WOMEN AND CHILDREN TO ENHANCE, STRENGTHEN TRIBAL, STATE AND FEDERAL RESPONSES TO SUCH VIOLENCE. WE HELD ONE STATEWIDE CONFERENCE ON TRADITIONAL DAKOTA LAND AT THE BLOOMINGTON, MN MARRIOT HOTEL WHERE APPROXIMATELY 140 PEOPLE WERE EDUCATED ON VIOLENCE AGAINST NATIVE WOMEN. IN ADDITION, WE CONDUCTED APPROXIMATELY 22 WORKSHOPS AND PRESENTATIONS TO OVER 1000 PEOPLE, AT VARIOUS STATE AND NATIONAL VENUES. THE TOPICS INCLUDED: PROSTITUTION/TRAFFICKING OF NATIVE WOMEN & CHILDREN; SEXUAL VIOLENCE AGAINST NATIVE WOMEN; TRIBAL STRATEGIES TO ADDRESS SEXUAL VIOLENCE; MENTAL HEALTH; TWO SPIRITS/LGBTQ ISSUES; MEN'S SUMMIT; CONFIDENTIALITY; AND ADVOCACY STANDARDS OF SERVICE. WE TRAVELED TO TRIBAL AND NON-TRIBAL COMMUNITIES AROUND THE COUNTRY. WE CONDUCTED 3 TRAININGS UTILIZING OUR CULTURALLY SPECIFIC 40-HOUR SEXUAL ASSAULT ADVOCACY TRAINING CURRICULUM.

PUBLIC AWARENESS - WE COLLABORATED WITH THE MN INDIAN WOMENS RESOURCE CENTER AND LOCAL NATIVE AMERICAN ARTISTS WHO SHARED THEIR TALENT, RESOURCES, TIME, ENERGY AND FOOD TO WORK THE NIGHT BEFORE OUR MURDERED & MISSING INDIAN RELATIVES MARCH. IT WAS WELL ATTENDED WITH THE COMMUNITY WORKING TOGETHER TO CREATE BANNERS & SIGNS WHICH BROUGHT PUBLIC AWARENESS TO THE NAMES OF NATIVE WOMEN WHO ARE STILL MISSING AND THOSE WHO WERE MURDERED. ON FEBRUARY 14TH WE CO-SPONSORED A MARCH FOR MURDERED AND MISSING INDIGENOUS WOMEN, WHERE WE BROUGHT OUR SOLIDARITY SHAWLS TO RAISE AWARENESS. THERE WERE OVER 1,000 PEOPLE IN ATTENDANCE. THE MMIR (MISSING & MURDERED INDIGENOUS RELATIVES) MARCH IS HELD EVERY YEAR ON FEBRUARY 14TH. ADDITIONALLY, WE BROUGHT OUR SOLIDARITY SHAWLS TO SEVERAL EVENTS AND POW WOWS TO RAISE AWARENESS OF VIOLENCE AGAINST NATIVE WOMEN AND GIRLS.

MEMBERSHIP AND OUTREACH - OUR MEMBERSHIP INCLUDES 39 PROGRAM MEMBERSHIPS AND 114 INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS, WE PROVIDED QUARTERLY MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS AT THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS: FOND DU LAC RESERVATION, GRANITE FALLS UPPER SIOUX RESERVATION, AND BEMIDJI. WE HAD A VISIONING MEETING WITH OUR MEMBERSHIP IN NISSWA MN. WE ALSO PROVIDED ONGOING TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND OUTREACH TO OUR MEMBERS THROUGH OUR LISTSERV, EMAIL, TELEPHONE AND SOCIAL MEDIA OUTLETS. WE PARTNERED WITH VIOLENCE FREE MN AND MN DEPT OF CORRECTIONS TO INTERVIEW FORMALLY INCARCERATED NATIVE WOMEN AND INCARCERATED NATIVE WOMEN ON PERSONAL HISTORY OF VICTIMIZATION.
