WE MOBILIZE SUPPORTERS OF ALL PARTIES TO DEFEND AND INCREASE ACCESS TO FAMILY PLANNING SERVICES AND FACT BASED, MEDICALLY ACCURATE SEXUALITY EDUCATION. WE WORK TO INSPIRE AND ENGAGE CITIZENS TO TAKE UP THE CAUSE OF REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH AND RIGHTS THROUGH (CONTINUED IN SCHEDULE O)EDUCATION, GRASSROOTS ORGANIZING, AND LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY.
TO INSPIRE AND ENGAGE CITIZENS TO SUPPORT THE REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH AND RIGHTS CAUSE.
IN FY 2019, ACTION FUND STAFF WORKED WITH ALLIES AT THE MINNESOTA LEGISLATURE AND THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE TO ADVANCE BILLS TO PROTECT AND EXPAND ACCESS TO BIRTH CONTROL, INCREASE FUNDING FOR REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH CARE AND REQUIRE COMPREHENSIVE SEX EDUCATION IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS. ACTION FUND STAFF ALSO WORKED WITH LEGISLATIVE ALLIES TO DEFEAT NUMEROUS ANTI-REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH BILLS, INCLUDING BILLS TO BAN ABORTION. STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS ALSO WORKED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, AT BOTH THE NATIONAL AND STATE LEVEL, TO HIGHLIGHT THE HARM POSED BY THE FEDERAL TITLE X GAG RULE AND THE LIKELY IMPACT ON MINNESOTANS SEEKING REPRODUCTIVE HEATLH CARE AT PLANNED PARENTHOOD CLINICS.(CONTINUED IN SCHEDULE O)IN MINNESOTA, STAFF HOSTED FOUR ADVOCACY SALONS THROUGH THE "BORN AFTER ROE" YOUNG PROFESSIONALS GROUP, ORGANIZED SUPPORTERS TO LOBBY THEIR MEMBERS OF CONGRESS TO REJECT THE GAG RULE ON THE TITLE X PROGRAM, AND GREW OUR YOUTH AND CAMPUS ORGANIZING PROGRAM. DURING THE MINNESOTA LEGISLATIVE SESSION ACTION FUND STAFF ENGAGED THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE THROUGH GRASSROOTS ORGANIZING, PHONE BANKING, AND DIGITAL OUTREACH AND ADVERTISING TO COMBAT ANTI-REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH BILLS AND ADVANCE PROACTIVE BILLS TO PROTECT AND EXPAND ACCESS TO CONTRACEPTION. IN ADDITION, THE ACTION FUND PACKED HEARING ROOMS, ORGANIZED TESTIFIERS, HELD A PRESS CONFERENCE AND HELPED ORGANIZE A LARGE RALLY TO PROTEST HARMFUL ABORTION BANS. THE ACTION FUND BOARD ENDORSED 93 CANDIDATES FROM THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE, TO U.S. SENATE SEATS, TO STATE LEGISLATIVE OFFICES, AND APPROVED A HISTORICALLY LARGE DIRECT VOTER CONTACT PLAN ADMINISTERED BY OUR POLITICAL ACTION FUND. THE ACTION FUND BOARD ENDORSED STU LOUREY IN A SPECIAL ELECTION FOR STATE SENATE AND APPROVED A DIRECT VOTER CONTACT PLAN ADMINISTERED BY OUR POLITICAL ACTION FUND. ACTION FUND STAFF ALONG WITH 40 VOLUNTEERS ATTENDED THE POWER OF PINK CONFERENCE IN DETRIOT TO LEARN ABOUT ORGANIZING FOR REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH AND RIGHTS. POWER OF PINK WAS THE LARGEST VOLUNTEER CONVENING AND TRAINING IN PLANNED PARENTHOOD ACTION FUND'S HISTORY. ACTION FUND STAFF HELD A PRESS CONFERENCE WITH SENATOR TINA SMITH TO OPPOSE THE NOMINATION OF JUDGE BRETT KAVANAUGH TO THE SUPREME COURT OF THE UNITED STATES. ACTION FUND STAFF JOINED WOMEN'S MARCH MINNESOTA FOR A MARCH AND RALLY IN ST. PAUL. WHERE NEARLY 1,000 PINK HATS WERE DISTRIBUTED TO THE 5,000 MARCHERS. STAFF IN MINNESOTA RAN A TEEN COUNCIL LOBBY DAY AT THE STATE CAPITOL. WORKING WITH EDUCATION AND OUTREACH STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS FROM DULUTH, ROCHESTER, AND THE TWIN CITIES, NEARLY 40 TEENS CAME TO ST. PAUL TO LOBBY FOR COMPREHENSIVE SEX EDUCATION. THEY WERE TRAINED BY ACTION FUND STAFF AND MET WITH 18 LEGISLATORS THROUGHOUT THE COURSE OF A 2-DAY RETREAT. STAFF ATTENDED A REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS ROUNDTABLE WITH U.S. REPRESENTATIVE ILHAN OMAR WHERE WE DISCUSSED THE CURRENT LANDSCAPE ON REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH AND RIGHTS. ACTION FUND STAFF IN ALL THREE STATES OPERATED A SOPHISTICATED DIGITAL PROGRAM THAT GENERATED NEARLY 120,000 WEBSITE VISITS, 120 BLOG POSTS, 2,000 NEW FACEBOOK FOLLOWERS, 540 NEW TWITTER LIKES, AND 1,300 NEW INSTAGRAM FOLLOWERS.IN MINNESOTA, WE WELCOMED FOUR NEW CAMPUS ORGANIZING INTERNS AT GUSTAVUS ADOLPHUS COLLEGE, MINNESOTA STATE UNIVERSITY MANKATO, AUGSBURG UNIVERSITY, AND HAMLINE UNIVERSITY. THESE NEW INTERNS JOINED EXISTING INTERNS AT MINNEAPOLIS COMMUNITY AND TECHNICAL COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA TWIN CITIES. ACTION FUND STAFF, VOLUNTEERS, AND SUPPORTERS LENT SUPPORT TO THE STOP THE BANS RALLY WHERE OVER 1,500 PEOPLE RALIED OUTSIDE OF THE MINNESOTA STATE CAPITOL TO PROTEST ABORTION BANS INTRODUCED IN MINNESOTA AND ACROSS THE NATION. IN NORTH DAKOTA, THE ACTION FUND CO-SPONOSRED 'WE RISE: WOMEN EMPOWERED' A WOMEN'S LOBBY DAY AT THE CAPITOL. OVER 100 WOMEN ATTENDED BOTH THE ADVOCACY TRAINING AND THE LOBBY DAY EVENTS. IN NORTH DAKOTA, THE ACTION FUND STAFF LED THE STRATEGIZING AND ORGANIZING EFFORTS AROUND ANTI-ABORTION BILLS AT THE STATE LEGISLATURE. 113 SUPPORTERS TOOK THE ONLINE ACTION TO CONTACT THEIR LEGISLATOR IN OPPOSITION TO THE ANTI-ABORTION BILLS.IN NORTH DAKOTA, ACTION FUND STAFF IMPLEMENTED A RAPID RESPONSE PROGRAM TO DEFEND OUR EDUCATION PROGRAMING FROM ATTACK BY LOCAL ANTI-CHOICE ACTIVISTS. STAFF WORKED WITH LOCAL SUPPORTERS ON A LETTER TO THE EDITOR CAMPAIGN, HIGHLIGHTING THE IMPORTANCE OF OUR EDUCATION WORK. IN NORTH DAKOTA STAFF WORKED WITH LOCAL NATIVE WOMEN LEADERS TO COMMUNICATE THEIR OPPOSITION TO THE NOMINATION OF JUDGE BRETT KAVANAUGH TO THE UNITED STATES SUPREME COURT. 41 NATIVE WOMEN SIGNED ON TO A LETTER OF OPPOSITION. IN NORTH DAKOTA, ACTION FUND STAFF ORGANIZED AN ONLINE ACTION ALLOWING SUPPORTERS TO CONTACT STATE LEGISLATORS WHO HAD EXPRESSED DISAPPOINTMENT IN NDSU'S PARTNERSHIP WITH PLANNED PARENTHOOD. THE ACTION ALLOWED SUPPORTERS TO SEND AN EMAIL TO ALL 89 LEGISLATORS EXPRESSING SUPPORT OF THE PARTNERSHIP AND THE WORK PLANNED PARENTHOOD DOES. 168 PEOPLE TOOK THE ACTION.IN SOUTH DAKOTA, WOMEN'S LOBBY DAY BROUGHT TOGETHER 25 SUPPORTERS FROM ACROSS THE STATE TO MEET WITH LEGISLATORS, WATCH COMMITTEE HEARINGS, AND ATTEND A LEGISLATIVE CAUCUS. THE LUNCHEON FEATURED PRO-REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH LEGISLATORS REPRESENTATIVE KELLY SULLIVAN, REP. ERIN HEALY AND REP. LINDA DUBA. SOUTH DAKOTA STAFF AND LOCAL SIOUX FALLS ADVOCATES HELD A PRO-REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH CANDIDATE PARTY FOR LEGISLATIVE DISTRICTS IN SIOUX FALLS. SOUTH DAKOTA STAFF EMCEE'D THE WOMENS MARCH IN JANUARY IN SIOUX FALLS ATTENDED BY HUNDREDS OF SOUTH DAKOTANS.
