Organizations Filed Purposes: THE MISSION OF SUMMIT UNIVERSITY TEEN CENTER INCORPORATED (S.U.T.C.) IS TO PROMOTE AND SPONSOR ALL ACTIVITIES, WHICH HELP OR BENEFIT THE SOCIAL, RECREATIONAL, HEALTH, AND EDUCATIONAL WELFARE OR CONCERN OF RESIDENTS OF THE SUMMIT-UNIVERSITY AREA.

THE MISSION OF SUMMIT UNIVERSITY TEEN CENTER INCORPORATED (S.U.T.C.) IS TO IDENTIFY AND ASSIST IN ESTABLISHING THE MEANS TO MEET HUMAN SERVICE NEEDS OF THE COMMUNITY; TO PROMOTE SERVICES WHICH ENHANCE THE GENERAL WELFARE AND ESTABLISH A PROCESS THAT PROMOTES COMMUNTIY LEADERSHIP AMONG RESIDENTS; AND TO IMPROVE ADVOCACY, INFORMATION AND REFERRAL TO HUMAN SERVICES THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITY, THE CITY OF ST. PAUL AND RAMSEY COUNTY.

DROP-IN PROGRAM:THE LOFT PROVIDES THE ONLY DROP-IN CENTER FOR TEENS IN OUR AREA. COMMUNITY RESIDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VISIT THE CENTER AND TAKE PART IN THE PROGRAMS OFFERED. OUR FACILITY HOUSES A GAME ROOM, FEATURING POOL TABLES AND VIDEO GAMES. SNACKS AND REFRESHMENTS ARE AVAILABLE DAILY AT THE SNACK BAR. THE LOUNGE FEATURES WIDE SCREEN T.V. AND COMFORTABLE FURNITURE. QUIET TIME AND TIME TO SOCIALIZE WITH FRIENDS CAN BE ENJOYED. THOSE IN SCHOOL CAN USE THE LIBRARY FOR STUDY AND INTERNET ACCESS. #4,327 MONTHLY AVGTHE LOFT PROGRAMS:THE LOFT PROGRAM CONSISTS OF TWO LINKED PROGRAM COMPONENTS DESIGNED FOR YOUTH OF ALL AGES. THE TWO (2) PROGRAMS ARE LIFE SKILLS/CAREER DEVELOPMENT AND TUTORING/HOMEWORK ASSISTANCE. THE LOFT PROGRAM EMPHASIZES EDUCATION AND THE IMPORTANCE OF POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION. THE PROGRAM HELPS WITH HOMEWORK, TUTORING AND PROVIDES COMPUTER ACCESS FOR YOUTH AND TEENS WHO PARTICIPATE IN THE PROGRAM. LIFE SKILLS/CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM - TEACHES TEENS THE IMPORTANCE OF EDUCATION, CAREERS OF THE FUTURE AND JOB TRAINING. THEY LEARN HOW TO PREPARE FOR COLLEGE, HEALTHY LIFE HABITS, RESUME WRITING, AND MUCH MORE. #103TUTORING/HOMEWORK ASSISTANCE PROGRAM - PROMOTES CONFIDENCE IN ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT, ASSISTS YOUTH AND TEENS IN ESTABLISHING TIME DAILY TO COMPLETE HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS AND TUTORING HELP ON MOST SUBJECTS. #166PARTICIPATORY RECREATION:ASSISTED BY THE LOFT TEEN COUNCIL, THIS PROGRAM PLANS ACTIVITIES FOR THE CENTER. WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE IN ON THIS PLANNING PROCESS? IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A HAND IN YOUR ACTIVITIES AT THE LOFT THAN JOIN TEEN COUNCIL! SOME EXAMPLES OF ACTIVITIES PLANNED BY THE TEEN COUNCIL ARE: VALLEY FAIR, HORSEBACK RIDING, PICNICS, BOWLING, ROLLER-SKATING, CONCERTS, AND PLAYS. THERE IS BIG FUN ON THIS AGENDA!ADOLESCENT PREGNANCY PREVENTION PROGRAM:THIS PROGRAM ADDRESSES ADOLESCENT DECISION-MAKING REGARDING SEXUAL ACTIVITY. TEENS ARE GIVEN CORRECT INFORMATION ON THE BENEFITS OF SEXUAL ABSTINENCE BEFORE MARRIAGE. PARTICIPANTS ARE GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO DISCUSS WITH STAFF AND PEERS ISSUES OF SELF-ESTEEM, PREGNANCY PREVENTION, STD'S, PEER PRESSURE, FAMILY AND PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY. #118COMMUNITY SERVICE:COMMUNITY SERVICE IS A COMPONENT OF ALL SUMMIT UNIVERSITY TEEN CENTER PROGRAMS. THIS PROGRAM ALLOWS YOUTH TO GAIN INSIGHT INTO PROBLEMS THAT EXIST IN THEIR COMMUNITY AND GAIN PRACTICAL LIFE EXPERIENCES WHILE VOLUNTEERING AT VARIOUS SOCIAL AND PUBLIC SERVICE AGENCIES. TEENS WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO PARTAKE IN A VARIETY OF COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS/LEARNING ACTIVITIES THAT WILL ENHANCE THEIR PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE OF SOCIAL PROBLEMS. THIS PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO FOSTER A SENSE OF COMMITMENT TO THEIR COMMUNITY.
