The West Side Community Organization (WSCO) sustains the people of the West Side to build community power and to advance a more just and equitable community. WSCO also serves as the planning council for Saint Paul's District 3 (zip code 55107). WSCO organizes for systemic change on quality of life issues affecting the West Side Community. The West Side Citizens Organization is an action oriented, neighborhood-based organization powering community to participate in and advicate for solutions to West Side issues.

Local Business Support: OUR STREETS OUR STORIES - builds local economic power by bringing a complete corridor refresh to our three main economic corridors: Cesar Chavez, Stryker, and Smith Ave. This community-led corridor identity initiative lifts up our unique West Side stories through artist-led community engagement. This allows us to reclaim our spaces and narrative throughout the West Side and Greater St. Paul area. A new brand identity with street banners was completed for the District Del Sol corridor, and community engagement work was completed for Stryker and Smith corridors. DISTRICT DEL SOL BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT GRANTS - In partnership with the Commercial Vitality Zone program of the City of St. Paul, WSCO administered small business grants to local West Side businesses to help with facade and other improvements to ensure these businesses continue to thrive on the West Side for years to come. WSCO also supported local businesses in organizing around safety and other issues.

WEST SIDE VOICES FORUM - This is an initiative through WSCO, moving towards all West Siders having a voice in making decisions about their community. This is a welcoming space where folks can learn about WSCO, support their neighborhood, and get to know people in our community while participating in making decisions that impact the West Side community. Residents select to participate in one of several Action Circles to take action on a particular issue. Action circles included Land Use, Health and Environmental Justice, Arts, History, and Culture, Housing Justice, and WS 100 (voter engagement).

Leadership: INDIGENOUS AND WOMEN OF COLOR LEADERSHIP TABLE: WSCO co-created space to support and train a diverse group of women of color and indigenous identities from across the West Side to emerge into leadership positions and opportunities throughout our organization, community and beyond. This leadership development and support underpins all of our work as we know the most sustainable development results when local leaders can create pathways to self-sufficiency for themselves and their families.
