TO DEVELOP AND SUPPORT COLLABORATIVE EFFORTS TO MATCH THE NEEDS OF THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS OF ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MARYLAND WITH THE RESOURCES OF THE SURROUNDING BUSINESSES, INDUSTRY, AND COMMUNITY.
THE 21ST CENTURY EDUCATION FOUNDATION WORKS WITH THE ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS (AACPS) AND THE COMMUNITY TO CONNECT THE PRIVATE SECTOR WITH EDUCATION INITIATIVES THAT SUPPORT STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT AND PREPARES STUDENTS FOR THE WORKFORCE. THE FOUNDATION SUPPORTS PROGRAMS AND INITIATIVES IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS: 1) STUDENT PROGRAMS A. CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES B. ACADEMIC COMPETITIONS C. LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCES D. BEFORE/DURING/AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES E. EARLY CHILDHOOD INITIATIVES2) TECHNOLOGY IN THE CLASSROOM3) COLLEGE & CAREER READINESS4) FAMILY & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT A. EVENTS & ACTIVITIES THAT ENGAGE AND INFORM FAMILIES & COMMUNITIES B. STUDENTS IN NEED, INCLUDING HOMELESS STUDENTS & WEEKEND/SUMMER FOOD PROGRAMS5) EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION & DEVELOPMENT A. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT EXPERIENCES/CONFERENCES B. LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTEANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS PROVIDES THE SERVICES OF TWO EMPLOYEES FOR THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE PROGRAMS AND OPERATIONS OF THE FOUNDATION. APPROXIMATELY A THIRD OF THE TIME FOR THESE TWO EMPLOYEES IS DEDICATED TO THE WORK OF THE FOUNDATION. TOTAL EXPENSES FOR PAYROLL AND RELATED ITEMS WAS APPROXIMATELY $76,615 FOR THE YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2020. THESE AMOUNTS ARE NOT INCLUDED AS INCOME AND EXPENSE IN THE FORM 990. THE FOUNDATION DIRECTLY HOSTS: - THE LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTE, A YEAR-LONG PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM DESIGNED TO ENHANCE THE LEADERSHIP CAPACITY WITHIN AACPS EMPLOYEES THROUGH EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING AND GROUP PROJECTS. THE PROGRAM ENGAGES PARTICIPANTS IN MONTHLY SESSIONS TO CULTIVATE COLLABORATIVE LEADERS AND ENHANCE PARTNERSHIPS BETWEEN THE SCHOOL SYSTEM AND BUSINESS SECTOR. - A VARIETY OF FUNDRAISING EVENTS INCLUDING THE EMPLOYEE GIVING CAMPAIGN, NETWORKING BREAKFAST WITH THE SUPERINTENDENT, AND ANCHORS AWEIGH. THE 21ST CENTURY ORGANIZES AND PARTICIPATES IN EVENTS AND CAMPAIGNS TO RAISE AWARENESS AND FUNDS FOR THE NEEDS OF THE SCHOOL SYSTEM.
