Organizations Filed Purposes:
THE MISSION OF THE ANNAPOLIS SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA IS TO PRODUCE, PRESENT AND PROMOTE MEMORABLE SYMPHONIC MUSIC THAT INCREASES AWARENESS, ENJOYMENT, AND APPRECIATION OF MUSIC FOR ALL AGES THROUGHOUT THE REGION.
THE CORE PROGRAMMING OF THE ASO IS CENTERED AROUND THE MASTERWORKS SERIES, FIVE PROGRAMS TWO PERFORMANCES EACH, FEATURING SYMPHONIC REPERTOIRE FROM VARIOUS PERIODS OF MUSIC HISTORY, AND USUALLY FEATURING A DISTINGUISHED GUEST SOLOIST FROM THE INTERNATIONAL ROSTER OF MUSICAL ARTISTS. THE MASTERWORKS SERIES PROGRAMS ARE GIVEN FIVE REHEARSALS FOR PREPARATION, AND TAKE PLACE FRIDAY AND SATURDAY EVENINGS FROM OCTOBER THROUGH MAY AT MARYLAND HALL FOR THE CREATIVE ARTS. THROUGHOUT THE 2019-20 SEASON, THE ASO WELCOMED THE FOLLOWING ACCLAIMED SOLOISTS TO THE STAGE STEWART GOODYEAR, PIANO LISA PEGHER, PERCUSSION ANNE AKIKO MEYERS, VIOLIN ROBERT DILUTIS, CLARINET AWADAGIN PRATT, PIANO. THE SERIES CONTINUES TO FEATURE WORKS THAT DELIGHT AUDIENCES AND CHALLENGE THE ORCHESTRA TO RISE TO NEW HEIGHTS OF ARTISTRY. THE MASTERWORKS SERIES IS LARGELY SUBSCRIBED, WITH OVER 800 SUBSCRIBERS OVER TWO EVENINGS AND AVERAGE CAPACITY OF OVER 75 PER PERFORMANCE. DUE TO THE PANDEMIC, MASTERWORKS 3 AND MASTERWORKS 4 FEATURING ROBERT DILUTIS AND AWADAGIN PRATT RESPECTIVELY, WERE CANCELLED.
COMPLEMENTING THE MASTERWORKS SERIES IS THE ASO HOLIDAY POPS CONCERT. THE 2019-2020 HOLIDAY POPS CONCERT FEATURED THE ACCLAIMED BROADWAY VOCALISTS, THE BROADWAY TENORS. THE CONCERT RECEIVED GREAT ACCOLADES FROM AUDIENCE MEMBERS OF ALL AGES. THE CHAMBER MUSIC SERIES OF FOUR CONCERTS INCLUDING A LARGE BAROQUE ENSEMBLE, STRING QUARTET, WOODWIND QUINTET, AND BRASS QUINTET CONTINUED IN 2019-20. EACH CONCERT WAS FILLED TO CAPACITY REACHING A NEW AUDIENCE IN NEW VENUES. THE WOODWIND QUINTET AND BRASS QUINTET CONCERTS WERE CANCELLED DUE TO THE PANDEMIC.
