THE FOUNDATION ACCOMPLISHED ITS WORK THROUGH RESEARCH, THE EMPOWERMENT+ INITIATIVE, GLOBAL AWARDS, WORLD FORUMS, AND EDUCATION ON HOW FREEDOM OF RELIGION OR BELIEF IS IN THE STRATEGIC INTERESTS OF BUSINESSES AND SOCIETIES. RESEARCH THIS YEAR INCLUDED THE PUBLICATION OF A STUDY ON THE ANNUAL ECONOMIC CONTRIBUTION OF RELIGION TO AMERICAN SOCIETY. THE EMPOWERMENT+ SOCIAL COHESION AND ENTERPRISE INITIATIVE WAS SUCCESSFULLY PILOTED AND ROLLED OUT IN MANCHESTER, UK, AND FEATURED AT THE G20 INTERFAITH SUMMIT IN GERMANY. THE FIRST GLOBAL BUSINESS & INTERFAITH PEACE AWARDS WERE HELD AT THE START OF THE 2016 PARALYMPIC GAMES IN RIO DE JANEIRO, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE UNITED NATIONS. THE FOUNDATION PARTICIPATED IN MULTIPLE GLOBAL FORUMS, INCLUDING THOSE SPONSORED BY THE UNITED NATIONS ALLIANCE OF CIVILIZATIONS, THE BRITISH FOREIGN AND COMMONWEALTH OFFICE, THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT, AND OTHERS. THE FOUNDATION LAUNCHED A MAJOR EDUCATIONAL INITIATIVE FOR BUSINESSES ON NONDISCRIMINATION AND WORKPLACE ACCOMMODATION ON THE BASIS OF RELIGION AND BELIEF.
