THE INTERSECTION PROGRAM CONSISTS OF LEADERSHIP TRAINING, STUDENT-LED PROJECTS, AND COLLEGE COUNSELING. FOR THE FIRST FEW WEEKS, STUDENTS UNDERGO LEADERSHIP TRAINING THAT FOCUSES ON CIVIL RIGHTS, POWER AND PRIVILEGE, AS WELL AS PAST AND CURRENT STRATEGIES USED TO ORGANIZE COMMUNITIES. THEN, THE PROGRAM FOCUS SHIFTS FROM DIALOGUE TO COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT.COMMUNITY BASED PROJECTS ARE CREATED BY STUDENTS THAT FOCUS ON SOCIAL ISSUES AFFECTING THEIR DAILY LIVES. EXAMPLES OF PAST PROJECTS INCLUDE A STUDENT-LED MAYORAL FORUM, A PHOTO JOURNALISM EXHIBITION EXPOSING THE ENVIRONMENTAL DISPARITIES BETWEEN DIFFERENT BALTIMORE NEIGHBORHOODS, AN AUDIO-DOCUMENTARY AND STUDENT-LED COMMUNITY CONVERSATION ABOUT THE PHYSICAL STATE OF PUBLIC SCHOOL BUILDINGS, AND COMMUNITY ADVOCACY CAMPAIGNS. THE OTHER PART OF THE PROGRAM IS COLLEGE AND CAREER COUNSELING TO HELP THE INTERSECTION'S STUDENTS ACCESS THE RESOURCES AND TOOLS THEY NEED TO CREATE A PATH AFTER HIGH SCHOOL. COMPONENTS OF THE COLLEGE AND CAREER PROGRAM INCLUDE INDIVIDUAL MEETINGS WITH STUDENTS TO CREATE PERSONALIZED PLANS, WORKSHOPS FOCUSING ON SAT PREPARATION, HOW TO STRENGTHEN YOUR ADMISSIONS ESSAY, HOW TO FILE YOUR FAFSA, AS WELL AS INFORMATION ON ACCESSING SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS.
