Organizations Filed Purposes: MAEOE encourages,engages and empowers the community to understand, responsibly use and promote the natural world. MAEOE is a nonprofit educational association, serving thousands of teachers, natural resource managers, nature center staff and others with dynamic training programs

Maryland Green School Program: MAEOE Manages and operates the Maryland Green School and Green Center programs. In 2018/19 there were 636 Maryland Green Schools and 42 Green Centers that participated in MAEOE programs involving and engaging approximately 101,855 students, teachers, parents and citizens. MAEOE awards Maryland Green School status through a rigorous application process. Applications are reviewed each year with stakeholder input. In 2018/19 we provided workshops for Green Centers, Green Leaders, formal and non-formal educators. Our Green Centers and Green Leaders (60 volunteers) support teachers and students in various aspects of the MD Green Schools process including successfully implementing sustainable environmental practices at schools.

Annual Conference: In February 2019, MAEOE held its 32nd Annual Conference in Towson, MD with a focus on bringing together Science and Art in Environmental Education. Participants from Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Delaware and the District of Columbia attended. The four day conference provided professional development and networking opportunities to over 600 teachers, non-formal educators, administrators, resource personnel, and others. The conference provided 30 full-day and half-day workshops and 60 sessions.
