Organizations Filed Purposes: MARYLAND WORKFORCE CORPORATION'S (MWC'S) MISSION IS TO CREATE WORKER TRAINING PROGRAMS THAT PROVIDE UNEMPLOYED AND UNDEREMPLOYED WORKERS WITH THE SKILLS THEY NEED TO COMPETE IN TODAY'S JOB MARKET. MWC ALSO DEVELOPS PROGRAMS THAT PROVIDE LOW-INCOME, LOW-SKILLED INDIVIDUALS WITH THE CHANCE TO SIMULTANEOUSLY ACQUIRE ADULT BASIC EDUCATION (ABE) OR ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL) SKILLS AND OCCUPATIONAL TRAINING. IN ADDITION, MWC ADMINISTERS PROGRAMS THAT ASSIST INDIVIDUALS WITH RE-EMPLOYMENT FOR THOSE WHO HAVE EXHAUSTED THEIR UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE BENEFITS. MWC CONTINUES TO PARTNER WITH OTHER NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS, FOUNDATIONS, BUSINESSES AND GOVERNMENT AGENCIES TO DEVELOP AND ADMINISTER WORKFORCE RELATED PROJECTS IN THE AREAS OF LABOR, EDUCATION AND HUMAN SERVICES.

MARYLAND WORKFORCE CORPORATION'S (MWC'S) MISSION IS TO DEVELOP AND ADMINISTER WORKER TRAINING PROJECTS AND OTHER WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT RELATED PROJECTS TO FILL GAPS WITHIN THE DELIVERY SERVICES FOR LABOR, EDUCATION, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND HUMAN SERVICES PROGRAMS.

DEPARTMENT OF JUVENILE SERVICES - MWC IS PROVIDING SUPPORT FOR CONTINUING THE SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE "SAFEMEASURES", WHICH PERMITS CUSTOMERS TO MONITOR SERVICE DELIVERY ACTIVITY BY NAVIGATING AN EXTENSIVE SET OF REPORTS. THESE REPORTS ASSIST IN ESTIMATING CURRENT WORKLOAD DEMAND, PLANNING MORE EFFECTIVE SERVICE INTERVENTIONS, AND MONITORING CERTAIN PERFORMANCE INDICATORS ESTABLISHED BY STATE OR FEDERAL REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS.

ACCELERATING CONNECTIONS TO EMPLOYMENT (ACE) - THIS IS A US DEPARTMENT OF LABOR WORKFORCE INNOVATION GRANT, ADMINISTERED WITH BALTIMORE COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. ONLY FOUR GRANTS OF ITS SIZE ($12 MILLION) WERE AWARDED NATIONALLY. THE PROJECT IS A FOUR-STATE (CT, GA, MD, AND TX), NINE-WORKFORCE INVESTMENT BOARD EFFORT TO IMPLEMENT AND TEST AN ACCELERATED EDUCATION AND EMPLOYMENT MODEL THAT SIMULTANEOUSLY COMBINES BASIC EDUCATION WITH OCCUPATIONAL SKILLS TRAINING.
