TO DEVELOP MIXED INCOME RETIREMENT COMMUNITY FOR OLDER ADULTS IN BALTIMORE. STADIUM PLACE IS A MODEL URBAN RETIREMENT COMMUNITY FOR LOW AND MODERATE INCOME SENIORS THAT WILL OFFER A CONTINUUM OF CARE AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES TO HELP OLDER ADULTS LIVE ACTIVE LIVES AND AGE IN COMMUNITY.
STADIUM PLACE, INC. HAS FACILITATED THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE STADIUM PLACE RETIREMENT COMMUNITY WHICH CURRENTLY IS HOME TO OVER 400 OLDER, LOW AND MODERATE INCOME ADULTS RESIDING IN 5 INDEPENDENT LIVING APARTMENT BUILDINGS AND AND THE STADIUM PLACE NURSING AND REHABILITATION CENTER. SUPPORT SERVICES ARE PROVIDED TO SENIORS INCLUDING BENEFITS CHECK-UPS, HEALTH AND WELLNESS ACTIVITIES, EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING, TRIPS, SOCIAL EVENTS, INTERGENERATIONAL ACTIVITIES, AND VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES FOR SENIORS TO HELP EACH OTHER AND THE COMMUNITY (NEIGHBOR HELPING NEIGHBOR). THE GOALS ARE TO ENABLE SENIORS TO MAINTAIN THE GREATEST LEVEL OF SELF-SUFFICIENCY POSSIBLE AND ENGAGE IN MEANINGFUL ACTIVITIES IN THE COMMUNITY. THE STADIUM PLACE CAMPUS ALSO IS HOME TO A COMMUNITY-BUILT PLAYGROUND, THE HARRY AND JEANETTE WEINBERG YMCA AT STADIUM PLACE, THE THANKSGIVING PLACE ENTRY PLAZE (A MEDITATIVE GARDEN AND LABYRINTH), THE RIPKEN YOUTH DEVELOPMENT BALLFIELD KNOWN AS MEMORIAL FIELD, STADIUM PLACE NURSING AND REHABILITATION CENTER. A LARGE NUMBER OF RESIDENTS HAVE ASSISTED IN THE DISTRIBUTION OF FRESH PRODUCE RECEIVED FROM THE MARYLAND FOOD BANK AND A GARDENING CLUB.SUPPORTIVE SERVICES INCLUDE TRANSPORTATION TO LOCAL SHOPPING CENTERS, CHRONIC DISEASE AND OTHER HEALTH EDUCATION PROGRAMS, EATING TOGETHER LUNCH PROGRAM, AND EXERCISE PROGRAMS. SOCIAL ACTIVITIES INCLUDE RESIDENT COUNCIL ACTIVITIES, TRIPS, A SENIOR PROM COORDINATED BY JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY STUDENTS, AND A FASHION SHOW.
