Organizations Filed Purposes:
Development and management of scientific forums: 1) convene an annual scientific forum (international conference on pharmacoepidemiology & therapeutic risk management - ICPE) where members of the discipline meet to network, present results of methodological investigations and studies in progress, discuss public health policy issues concerning pharmacoepidemiology, therapeutic risk management, and other related fields. 2) Convene regular regional and local meetings on scientific and public policy issues, which currently includes a mid-year conference in conjunction with meetings of the board of directors and scientific program committee; and an annual Asian conference (ACPE) partnered with local scientific and professional societies.
ISPEs volunteer organization comprises a diverse range of talents, demographics and professional experience necessary to promote both the leadership of the Society in pharmacoepidemiology and the knowledge-sharing that is fundamental to the advancement of pharmacoepidemiology, therapeutic risk management and other related fields. The Governance function supports: 1) The ISPE Board of Directors, a leadership group with international representation; 2) committees, councils, special interest groups, and national chapters; and 3) Student Council and Student Chapters (located at Schools of Pharmacy and Schools of Public Health).
Publications: 1) The Society provides a members-only subscription to Pharmacoepidemiology and Drug Safety, a leading scientific journal publishing definitive, peer-reviewed papers on the science and practice of pharmacoepidemiology; and 2) a Manuscript Initiative, which funds the development of resource documents focused on pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacovigilance, drug utilization research, outcomes research, comparative effectiveness research, and therapeutic risk management.
